Let’s see what crazy numbers people post on here :lol

I just benched 170 today which is my best so far. Almost as strong as rookie Kevin Durant :oldlol:

I used to be able to do 5 reps of 200. For max I didn't care much for it but I don't remember ever hitting 250

I currently do 3 sets of 10 at 135. Will try and go up to 145 soon. My goal is to bench more than my weight (188 currently)

Don't lift anymore but low-200s. Long arms and 12 year old girl wrists here.

How's your mental health these days, RRR3? You hittin' them deads, squats and doing cardio as well (cardio is a HUGE antidepressant!)

I'm happy to see that you took my advice RRR3 to tone up, lower your BMI, and build some muscles.

My working sets are around 145-155 and I do those for about 5-6 reps. Last time I tried to go for max was about a month ago and I was able to get 185 twice, so my one rep max is probably 195 or so.

Personal best 355. Currently, maybe 325.

225 is the magic number. That's when you can load the bar with 4 of the big plates (45 pounders). I have never done it, but thats my goal. I have hit 200lbs though. I weigh 180.

Idek. Probably my bodyweight? I'm weak as **** on the bench.

I haven't worked out in over a year too.

Might look into getting a home gym.

Good to hear that you're keeping your heart healthy, man.

I don't give you guys enough props--but you, NateJizzle, DonDadda59, highwhey, Draz and some of the other young bucks on here have really compassionate hearts.

If you inhale your breath and hold tight, arch your back, squeeze your armpits, lats, glutes, and abs as tight as possible, and choke the bar to death as well as imagine pushing yourself away from the bar and spreading the bar apart---I'd think u can add 5 - 10 (or more) to your total! Also, keep in mind that you got to balance pushes with pulls---so be sure to incorporate a lot of rows, chin-ups, pull-ups with more volume to keep your shoulders healthy!

And depending upon where you are weakest---it if's the low part (then you need to activate/strengthen the chest), if it's the high part/lockout (then you need to strengthen the triceps---dips and close grip bench work).

What are you studying/reading these days?

Make sure you walk up to the biggest mother ****er in the gym and have them take a look at your form to ensure that it's correct. Don't THINK it's correct based on some youtube shit you watched, but rather ensure that it's correct by having someone watch you and help you adjust form until it is perfect. The soft spoken, insecure, introverted attitude stops now. It's go time.

Well, if your form sucks you will find out quick enough anyway, before the weight gets very heavy. Your shoulders or elbows will let you know.

You just outed yourself as someone that uses youtube vids to base correct form on :oldlol:... I'd use your chins as speed bags.

Anyone that's been in a gym knows that shit form won't do anything for you.

thats great OP. keep it up. my max bench is weak can probably get a couple reps up with a full plate and a smaller 35 plate. thats about 200-205 which is more than my weight.

I usually just use dumbbells because it puts less pressure on my shoulders. I have long lanky arms as well which is terrible for benching. it puts a lot of pressure on the joints. no such problem with dumbbells

Relative to my other athletic abilities, I'm pretty weak in terms of weight at the bench press, which is rather ironic considering that I'm pretty good at high repetitions of push-ups. The military press always seemed way too dangerous to me. I hear that Dwight Howard has the highest bench press in NBA history. Brian Orakpo is another workout warrior who probably holds some marks for the NFL (don't know how linemen do, though). It's a good thing the bench press isn't particularly pertinent for basketball outside of boxing out and rebounding.
