I tried reading a lot of the audiophile forums but their snobby opinions and recommendations are just way more than what I want to spend or deal with at this point - I’m trying to keep it less than 800.

I just recently purchased a home and I have my old jbl sb450 2.1 soundbar I’m currently using which rattles the walls. The issue is that the home is prewired for two zones and 5.1 in the main, zone one is on the balcony and two is by the jacuzzi and I’m sick of seeing these wires just hanging around . I know I need a 5.2.2 receiver and I hear denon makes some good ones. Anyone with experience in this that also has real recommendations instead of the “it’s going to cost 3k for a sound worth hearing” response I’ve been getting.

I would get any Onkyo or Denon that can do 3 zones. It will sound fine.

I never could get into surround sound systems. Especially ones with big ass receivers and wires everywhere. Hiding the wires, etc. Just give me a 2.1 soundbar with a sub and I'm good. I might look into getting the TCL Alto 9+ which is a 3.1 soundbar system that can link up with your Roku speakers for a 5.1 system.

Not into surround, but just asking: Do you need it for music, tv or both?

Music for the zones, both for the main. I have never heard an atmos system, anyone think they’re worth the money?
