NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced today that the NBA All-Star Game MVP Award has been permanently named for the late Kobe Bryant.

This year, the award's official title is: The Kia NBA All-Star Game Kobe Bryant MVP Award.

Totally agree with your thoughts. Just the right amount of respect. Kobe was an ASG legend, naming the MVP award after him fits.

Fitting, and not just for memorializing Kobe; it's also because this game has always been a popularity contest, and Kobe outreigned possibly everyone else (aside from Jordan) as the NBA's prom king.

I usually couldn't care less about All-Star Weekend accolades, but I'm hoping Giannis wins the award in his motivator's honor.
