Why exactly?
How do they benefit?

It’s such a weird looking roster. It’s like they think it’s 1983 and having 3 guys who could probably get 16 rebounds a game if they had to automatically makes you a tough matchup.

Cause they're the cavs..
Traded Clarkson who can actually score for exum, who can't do anything..
Trade for Drummond and move TT to the bench cause they can't trade him, then TT shines from the bench and Drummond looks like crap.
Doesn't he have a player option for next season? Man if there's a half decent offer out there he should take it and gtfo of Cleveland before he becomes black Kevin Love.
Mess of a team

I see nothing wrong with the trade. If Drummond doesn't work out all they'll lose is a second round pick. It's a gamble like most things in the NBA with player movement. Either way they'll have money come off the books. Unless he's stupid enough to pick up his player option for 20-21.

Drummond is pretty much useless in this league for the simple fact that he has a minimal defensive impact. He can grab a lot rebounds and score easy points, but he has no impact defensively. He's basically Dwight Howard without the elite defense and, frankly, is a tier below him offensively, too. That's the key thing, though. He just doesn't have any kind of defensive impact and if he isn't going to offer that...then he's basically useless in the league the way it is now considering he is incapable of having any kind of positive impact offensively overall. The PPG he puts up mean absolutely nothing.

Only answer I have is they must think they can resign Drummond. Or they're total morons.

People act like the Cavs gave up 5 first-round picks for Drummond :facepalm
They gave up ZERO.
And don't you think it makes sense for a shitty FA destination like Cleveland to gamble on a player like him ???
When other teams gamble on players: "Oh, he's worth the gamble. Good trade!!"
When the Cavs do something: "WTF are they doing?" - "They're the Cavs" :facepalm :facepalm
