"I hope their memories of me were of someone who gave everything he had on the basketball court, someone who was unselfish, someone who did it the right way, did it his way," Wade said. "[Someone] who in the midst of doing it his way made sure he uplifted others, empowered others, brought others along the journey. When I came into this game, all I wanted was respect. I wanted respect for the way I play the game. You don't know until it's over if that respect is there. The last year and a half, I felt that everything I tried to give the game, the game has given back to me. Hopefully, it's motivation and inspiration for so many kids and families out there.
"If I'm the face of anything in this world, I'm the face of imperfection. I'm the face of falling down but getting back up. I want that message for the kids. What I share in my documentary, I want that to ring loud and clear. None of us are perfect. But it's how we come back from mistakes, how we come back from when we fall and get back up that determine who we are."
After the ceremony, he expanded on his remarks about Bryant, saying, "The impact that the passing of Kobe has done on myself and so many others is it's made us sit down and stop. Life goes so fast. We move at a rapid pace. It's made me enjoy the moment more. It's made me want to create more memories. It definitely put a lot of things in perspective. As athletes, we're looked at as superheroes. We looked at Kobe as a superhero. That moment has touched all of us and will continue to.
"Kobe was leading the way -- he retired and showed us in his next act after retirement that you can master that, as well. He mastered basketball, he mastered being an amazing father, he mastered being a husband, he mastered being a creator. He was showing us the way, and now we don't have that. So I do have a responsibility to be that guy and show the way for the next generation."

when I remember Wade I think of a player that peaked in 2006 when he won that ring in Dallas almost by himself. He added bulk and strength and got back on track as one of the leagues best players after some injuries and had a good run with LeBron, Bosh, Ray Allen and Chalmers but his best years were with Shaq.
Wade was reduced by LeBron..but they were fun to watch. Wade's passing was the most underrated part of his game.

My first experience watching basketball was watching Wade in the 06 playoffs :applause:
I honestly think Wade was the best in the world that year, he was unstoppable.

I hope Gabrielle Union don't divorce him and hit him up for alimony and child support when his money get's low. She better be committed stay with him especially if they plan on chopping their son's manhood off.

And you were what, like 7 years old then :oldlol:
Sad seeing you try to downplay MJ so much when you didn't even see Wizards Jordan play.

You could definitely argue '06 as Wade's peak, but even as someone who values playoff performance significantly higher, I would still say it was '09. Averaged a ridiculous 30/5/8, played elite defense, went on an absurd tear after the all-star break, while carrying an absolutely awful roster to the playoffs. The ONLY mark against that year was he didn't quite carry that level of play into the playoffs. The loss to Atlanta was disappointing, prevented us from seeing a LeBron/Wade matchup the next round

Well, it would have to be as recent as "the other day", because you spent years on ISH as an insecure MJ troll.

Indeed. I liked Wade's game overall from 05-07 better than at any other point in his career. The way he shot the midrange was elite and he was faster due to not being bulky. Those playoff performances were all-time great. The guy made the right play every single time.

When I think of Wade, I think of a dude already being the best player in his team by his second year while featuring a twilight prime Shaq. Carrying a bummy Shaq to a CHIP winning Finals MVP with a legendary performance in just his third season ... curb stomping Dirk and co in the process.
And eventually as a guy LeBron had to cowardly join forces with to finally get over the hump. And if it wasn’t for a massive LeBron choke and/or quit job would’ve been a 4 time champ and 2 time Finals MVP winner.
Essentially the 3rd or 4th best SG at his position of all time. An underrated beast on both sides of the ball. And unlike say a James Harden, a guy who could raise his level of play against better comp under the brighter lights and pressure of playoffs or Finals.

Love me some D.Wade. Still have the Converse 1 and 2s somewhere, but someone flogged my jersey.
The play I remember most was him dunking on Varejo. Was pretty early in the morning for me, think I woke my old man up with my reaction.
Leave it to coach to bring his LeBron obsession into a thread about Wade.

For sure one of the all time greats. People for get in the late 00's how good he was. Probably only LeBron and Kobe were better for several years.

No, actually it was in response to one of the members of your moronic fan base.
Except her post was so stupid, and delusional (as typical from a Three 6 Mafia Stan) it got deleted.
Mine stays because even tho you don’t like hearing it, and it hurts your feelings ... it’s factual.
Wade is the reason Le3/9 got over confident and said “it gon be easy ... not 5, not 6, not 7”
:lol

you could say wade was player in the world from 04’-10’ minus 07. still 6 elite / argubaly(kobe, lbj) best in the world
the olyimpics 08’ really showed that he was in that conversation . no mvps and barely any 1st teams because his team sucked, should have atleast 5 1st teams...
