He is a good player but he isn't an all-star. He got in cause the East doesn't have as many top tier superstars as the West. He definitely isn't better than Beal. He reminds be of peak Joakim Noah...a very good winning player, but would not be a top 20 player in the league.

Beal has played no defense this year. Literally none. He's increased his usage from ~30% to 35%, which is a huge burden on offense, but the tradeoff was that he has played no defense at all.

Trae got voted a starter by the fans. If he hadn't been, he might not have made the team. He's the worst defender in the leage.

And elite Beal is not. He's not leading a team anywhere. Within the right team, then as your second best player then sure he can. In a vacuum, it's not automatic.
