Players with 1,300 steals and 1,300 blocked shots in their pro career
stl; blk
Kevin Garnett (1,859; 2,037)
Julius Erving (2,272; 1,941)
David Robinson (1,388; 2,954)
Hakeem Olajuwon (2,162; 3,830)
Bobby Jones (1,387; 1,319)
Ben Wallace (1,369; 2,137)
Clifford Robinson (1,402; 1,390)

Most people think Ben is a foregone conclusion based on his defensive timing, so that would just leave Cliff.

Despite these enormous totals, he only broke 100 steals or blocked shots once in his career.

Cliff played a long career; it's hard to say. He could pop the three, but struggled uncannily at the foul line. A lot of people thought he sucked in the Finals on championship contending Blazers teams.

Wow he played all 82 games during 7 of his seasons; almost 20 thousand points.

First of all let’s be clear on a major point in regards to the basketball hall of fame:

They don’t have the highest of standards and a lot of people go who might not “deserve” it if we did have specific standards set by fans.

That said....the answer is still no.

Nope.

The HOF is for the greatest (greatest in different era).

Come on, have you ever considered Cliff Robinson was one of the best all time, or one the best in his era?

Good lord, no.

Blocks and steals with no context mean absolutely zero. He isn't close to a HOF player.

Was he ever one of the best on his own team? A role player wasn't he?

No way. He was what, a one-time all-star? He was just solid for a long time and wound up with good career totals as a result but he was never a top 20 player.

Cliff was a beast in NBA Jam TE, though. :pimp:

He was a good player but he only made 1 All-Star team.

the general consensus seems to be that Cliff needed to be the second-best player on his Blazers teams during those Finlas runs in order to make Hall, but he was clearly third most of the time after Drexler and Kersey, but how do you know that's not holding him to too high of a standard?

It doesn't make sense. He surpassed Porter the next year.

Kevin Johnson, Shawn Kemp, Mark Price, Tim Hardaway aren't in the hall and these were all all-NBA second team guys at worst. Robinson was good but not HOF worthy.

I agree those guys could make Hall. And Porter's a lifer, but the Trail Blazers' rank kinda interchanges in the postseason with Kersey really stepping his game up.

Lol.

Honestly does he have a better argument than Iguodala?

To answer this question ISH style, replace Pippen with Robinson ...

Surprised that Shawn Marion was not part of that group and upon checking he was 67 blocks short.

Do you think defensive beasts Dwight Howard or Andre Drummond could reach this mark? Dwight is close, and Drummond keeps lighting up the scoreboard.

Drummond is a defensive beast?

Cliff was arguably the third best player in the 90's after Jordan & Hakeem, why wouldn't he be first ballot?
