Way the game is played now his athletic issues wouldn’t be a problem....which is funny to me with all the talk of how much more athletic players are supposed to be.

Bodiroga would be a perennial MVP today. His IQ and touch was off the charts.

Welcome.

Ive always wondered the same. Nobody who played him seems to think he couldnt transition fine. A lot of guys like him could have played in the NBA but the money back then wasnt the same and they wanted to be able top lay for their national teams too. I wonder more about Nikos Galis than anyone.

Thanks. Yes, another great talent. Especially with the NBA access to training, experts, and nutrition etc.

How good was Bodiroga? I was too young to care about basketball in his prime :facepalm

I remember watching that Barca team with Bodiroga, Jasikevicius, Fuska and Navarro!

What a team that would have been in the NBA today.

A team of 4 guards with size. Fuska was 7'1'' and some sort of proto-Porzingis, without the defense.

Its hard to even know how to compare it. Numbers are virtually useless(even more so than usual) across leagues with different rules and eras. Every time I saw him I wondered why he wasnt in the NBA because he was clearly as good as many of the players on team USA. Its not that simple really....guys like Carlos Arroyo ate up team usa....doesnt make them better than Duncan and Iverson of course. But there was no gap to me. He looks roughly NBA all star level though its possible time has dulled my memory of it. In that setting...he held his own with stars though I cant speak on the numbers. He just felt like he was playing competition on his level.

I saw him a few times in euroleague games but I cant say I was trying to break his game down specifically. Just basketball junkie shit watching it because it was on and id occasionally see an international I was interested in.

Id say at worst hed be a peak Boris Diaw but likely a couple notches up in this era specifically.
