View Full Version : Why do Kawhi's posters seem so deflating for the opposing team?

When Kawhi gets his poster dunks, they're so methodical, slow, thought out, and then BAM out of nowhere like a robot dunks on two people's heads in the half court.

Meanwhile someone like Bran's dunks are good for commentator hype and BR Instagram highlights but they just don't see even remotely as deflating or impactful as Kawhi's dunks. When Kawhi gets a poster in the second half of the game, it's pretty much a game ending dagger just completely sucking the soul out of everyone on the opposing team.

Why is that?

This is a very real phenomenon. There's an article I saw that covers it in some detail:

I think it's his demeanor. He doesn't act like it's a big deal, so in the back of your mind you're like "oh shit, he's just gonna come back and do it again".

I think attaching yourself to these players and their personality is a big part of the game. For example, with certain players like Jordan or Kobe, if someone went at them or talked smack, you almost always expect them to respond.

With Kawhi, that personal aspect to his game is non-existent... which is why so many people call him a bot.

The OP is asking a silly question that has no basis in reality.

Appreciate you telling me this is a "forum" though. Great insight bro.

It's PRECISELY because Kawhi is such a methodical technical player.

Then when he goes for a poster dunk, it's just removing all hope. Like, what are you going to do when the most technically skilled, best shooter, also just dominates in the paint? The Jordan effect. Most athletic, best dunker, is also the most skilled. Game over. That's deflating.

Or with Bird, what are you going to do when the basketball savant is also the hardest working hustler on the floor? Give up! Nothing you can do. Can't outhustle, can't outskill.

With other less skilled players, you don't care, cause you'll live with them getting that ego boost, as long as they can't make the shot.

Kawhi is fairly unique in how fundamental his moves are. They're very... direct. Can almost see them coming, a lot easier than with other stars.

And there it is. I'd like to think you are just a great troll, but the way have gone on...for years, makes me believe you are honestly this obsessive about Bran. You can't even talk about another player without bringing him up in some capacity. It's quite pathetic, lad.

I think its the ease and timing of them. His posters come out of nowhere, at very crucial moments. He casually jumps up and just violently throws it down, and he was the awareness of when to to them. He was an uncanny sense of timing(game management) like all great players have.

Great trolls are funny and inventive.

This dude just uses anti-Lebron buzzwords. Superteam, collude, stiff arm, etc.

Shit was tired like 3 years ago.

Great response bro, in line with the other good posters that have posted in this thread.

That seems to make sense to me, he's just so slow and methodical but the entire time you know he's about to do something big.

So deflating every time...

Agree, Kawhi is that rare breed that he's most likely the last of.

It's sad but it's amazing to watch this dude bring that style back and be the best in the world with it.

Along with his DELATING posters.

Great response bro
