Well Atkinson wanted no part of the 2 headcases next year... so I think he was happy to be done with it. Nets had something going last year, he had coachable guys that didn't throw teammates under the bus. This offseason they changed that and picked up 2 fools that never shut up to the media full of insecurities.

So what, you think D'Angelo Russell was going to lead his team anywhere? He wanted out anyway so now you think Dinwiddie and Levert were going to have next? They're lucky that Durant chose to play there because whatever Irving might be, Durant's still one of the 5 best players in the league and he'll likely turn them into Finals contenders in the East. Maybe the Nets & Atkinson both wanted to move on after this season and they agreed to end things at this point because the season's pretty much over anyways. They're essentially a lock for the Playoffs but will get stomped in the first round regardless.
