This is where Luka(and the Mavs stand right now)

28.5 PPG/9.4 RPG/8.7 APG. Mavs are 39-26 and the 7th seed, but only 2.5 out of 4th. They will make the playoffs in some fashion. They are 6-7 when Luka sits. Oddly enough, theyÂ’re 9-6 when Porzingis sits and Luka is averaging 28/10/9 in games KP doesnÂ’t play. Question is, would you give Luka MVP?

Right now, Mavs have NBA's 12th best record, though they're just 5 games behind the 4th best record.

If they could pull into that 4-8th best record range, then maybe, but as things stand right, as unfair as this may be to Doncic, he's in the list of favorites but the 2nd tier of MVP favorites, not the first. But again, that could change in a hurry if they go on a big run.

A decent win streak puts them in home court for the first round. Even at the 7 seed, they’re overachieving. This is all with KP shooting in the low 40s from the field and missing 15 games.

Not quite Westbrook MVP numbers. It helped a lot that Russ accomplished what had only been done once before.

He don't have the team record
He missed 14/65 games (20+% of all games)

2x right ankle sprain
low back injury
left thumb sprain
illness
jaw injury
right wrist sprain

if luca (and the mavs) stay healthy they could be a top 3 seed in the west next season

Nah, he doesn't have anything in his favor to justify winning MVP, his statline is ridiculous, but not like it's even noticeably greater than Giannis or even Harden, and his team is gonna win roughly 15+ games less than the Bucks & Lakers

I think AD deserves it, dragged last years loser team to the top spot in the west by himself.. I seem to remember no AD last year and no playoffs right??

Yes, because he's white and less athletic. The level of difficulty is much higher.

He doesn't deserve it but even if he did he wouldn't win because of his age and team record.

Great season though.
