I believe so. He made an open mockery of the situation and has infected 2 teammates thus far...that's what is confirmed as of now, imagine how many other players from different teams he could have infected.

The players will be alright, what about the hourly wage staff he infected?

He should be suspended for an entire season.

The league shutdown bc of him.

I believe they should wait till he is no longer contagious then allow anyone who has any grievance in regards to him to go ahead and fucc him in the ass in a public setting. It's the only solution I think is appropriate given the situation and is fair to all parties involved.

Is this supposed to mean something? China has been trying to pass on blame for awhile now. Of course they are saying this.

He's an idiot. But if he serves as an example of what not to do, and what happens when you take The Virus lightly, he could be a useful idiot. He's certainly brought the severity of the situation to peoples attention in a very public way. But to address the topic, he didn't violate any league rules, so you'd have a tough time getting a suspension past the players union.

Mitch wasn't exactly pleased with the situation either. He threw some subs. Rumor has it he was fcking around in the locker rooms messing around with players knowing he may have had the virus because he was sick.

Chris Haynes: The NBA will not fine or suspend Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert (https://*********.com/social/) for his actions leading up to testing positive for the coronavirus, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Adam Silver said that the NBA reached out to Rudy Gobert to develop a PSA to help combat the spread of COVID-19 (https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/257527/Adam-Silver-Says-NBA-Asked-Rudy-Gobert-To-Develop-PSA-To-Help-Combat-COVID-19). Gobert tested positive for the virus, leading the NBA to suspend the league for at least 30 days.

Did he act stupidly with the press, Mic and all, sure
Does he deserve a fine for it: if stupidity was fine-worthy, 90% of this board would be concerned

And Yes, maybe Donovan is the one who gave it to Rudy, not the other way around. No one can be sure anyway

Rudy Gobert fans should be fined too and banned form this forum.

03-13-2020, 02:14 PM
No. My guess is people may look at it as a bad example to set for the rest of the world to punish someone that contracted the virus. Sure, they wouldn't be punishing him for contracting it, they would be punishing him for his carelessness, but alot of people might not understand that and look at it that way.

Wood had 30 and 11 rebounds against Rudy Gobert on Saturday night before a career-high 32 on Wednesday. Sources say Wood has shown no symptoms and is doing well.

Rudy certainly doesn't deserve any blame as he was not aware. But touching the mics and making it a point to mock it was careless and irked me personally.

That is literally 100% the issue here. Dude was making a mockery of the pandemic and because of his deliberate actions he put several people in danger.

No one would be making a big deal out of Gobert being the first testing positive but it was reported he went around touching teammates and then the microphones as if it's all a joke.

Toronto Raptors’ forward Chris Boucher was photographed at a downtown Toronto Loblaws on Thursday, just one day after he was ordered into self-isolation (https://toronto.citynews.ca/2020/03/16/raptors-boucher-breaks-self-isolation-coronavirus/). The Raptors had been told to self-isolate after playing the Utah Jazz on March 9. Jazz player Rudy Gobert had tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, triggering the suspension of the NBA season.

A photo sent to CityNews showed Boucher at the Loblaws location on Thursday evening, wearing gloves, but no mask. The Raptors have responded to the photo acknowledging it was Boucher, saying he had been asymptomatic since returning to Toronto and has since tested negative for COVID-19. (https://*********.com/storyline/coronavirus/)“He has been told to self-monitor for any symptoms. However, he broke protocol. He is extremely regretful,” a statement from the Raptors read (https://toronto.citynews.ca/2020/03/16/raptors-boucher-breaks-self-isolation-coronavirus/).

So, they should make up a rule, and then charge him with breaking it?

I can't emphasize enough that I sincerely don't like what he did at all (it was totally irresponsible), I'm not defending him for doing it, and he 100% should have known better.

This situation is unprecedented. We've all learned from it. I believe he'll be harder on himself than we could ever be, and there are probably some gestures he could make to try to atone for his actions that would go a long way toward rehabilitating his his brand/image. However, for the time being, we have bigger fish to fry.

I take back this thread, he's obviously feeling guilty and has since felt the repercussions. I hope Rudy makes a swift recovery. No suspension was ever warranted.
