I know being old-fashioned and gentlemanly were good character traits back in the 1800s, but if I'm on a sinking ship waiting to drown, forget the courtesies.

I feel like the scenario is realistic. They have been in the freezing water for a while and been through a lot of stuff before that. Their bodies were probably numb and dead tired. Jack did try to get on the 'raft' but it just toppled over. He probably realized that in their state, there's no way he's getting on the raft without it toppling over. Besides, with his body numb, he probably can't feel he was dying (although probably knows it's likely).

I hate to be the guy that nitpicks but you're literally off by more than a century

Realistic? lol. She would have died of hypothermia well before the rescue boats found her.

He took 1 for the team. Knew there would be a chance that neither make it and the raft collapses so he did his best to keep her afloat. But damn that must have been a cold night, the human body can only take so much. I'll never let go :(
