I still don't understand why all NBA players didn't get tested as soon as Gobert got it.

cause there's not enough tests to go around? many people with actual symptoms aren't even getting tested

I still don't understand why all NBA players didn't get tested as soon as Gobert got it.

A person who has just been exposed can test negative for The Virus even if they're infected. It takes a few days for the virus to build up in their system sufficiently before the test can detect it. Testing the Nets players immediately after the Gobert news broke might have resulted in some or all of the infected players testing negative. That would have given them a false sense of security, along with everyone that they had come in contact with.

I still don't understand why all NBA players didn't get tested as soon as Gobert got it.

Stuff like this is why:

"When the Utah Jazz decided to test their entire team and personnel last week (58 tests), they consumed 20% of available stock of test kits for the entire state of Oklahoma."

They're limited like Statutory mentioned.

Because there is only a very limited number of test kits to go around?

I hope that none of them test positive, but if LeBron does you can expect the rest of the season to be officially canceled.

I still don't understand why all NBA players didn't get tested as soon as Gobert got it.

Some tests were (not sure if they still are) unreliable when tested too early even if you have it. On top of that, the shortage of tests via official channels. Some have gone through unofficial channels but those tests aren't FDA approved. That might not matter to some but I'm sure for some employers there might be a legal liability in that case.

Incubation time. That is the reason they are testing them now.
