I’m disappointed. Americans are too stubborn, apathetic, and embarrassed to wear masks and stay home. Would people rather stop the spreading of the virus now or after it has dragged our economy through the mud and infected millions of people and killed hundreds of thousands of ourselves and loved ones?

China’s government is the antithesis of the values we know lead to the innovation, freedom, and success in our great country; however, in spite of their government, the Chinese population responded well to the threat by completely staying home for 6-8 weeks starting in January and now their businesses are regularly open and schools are starting again.

All I’ve seen is blatant finger-pointing and all Americans are just acting like sheeps with pitchforks like everyone else in the world.

Our short-sighted, middle-ground response will lead to even bigger problems down the road if these sacrifices are not made eventually and the virus is not taken seriously. It’s sad to see people care about the domestic and global political implications of the situation instead of the virus itself.

This shows that viral warfare could wipe humans out with little effort.

They keep claiming that most of their new cases are from "foreigners" coming into the country, but most of these people are actually Chinese themselves trying to get back into China and get home.

I wouldn't put anything past the Chinese Gov...they are definitely capable of massive lies...but they can only hide so much. We have seen the removal of their makeshift hospitals, and there are Americans in Wuhan posting video footage of society getting back to normal there. Maybe it isn't as cleaned up as the numbers say, but I think all the evidence shows it has gotten drastically better there.

Agree. The virus is highly contagious and has been active in china for a minimum of 4 months (but likely even longer), if the virus had a death rate of ~2% that would mean we should see ~25-40 million dead chinese... they might be underreporting the numbers, but theres no way they are hiding millions of bodies.


Also, people like the thread OP dont know what they are talking about when they say all of China stayed home for 6-8 weeks. Wuhan and the region of Hubei were the only parts of the country that were locked down in any way. In Shanghai, Bejing, Hong Kong... and most of the rest of the country, life continued fairly normally and yet somehow there werent bodies piling up all over the place.

They attempted to save face and sweep it under the rug all of December, and didn’t share real numbers with the rest of the world, if they did, we would have shut down travel from China much sooner, and taken action domestically sooner.

China was arresting any Chinese citizen who even posted anything about the virus on their social media, or spoke about it in person. That’s not an extreme measure, that’s perpetuating ignorance and being horribly irresponsible

They imprisoned several doctors who posted truth on their twitters and those doctors died in confinement days later. China’s damn fault we’re in this trouble.

After all this time you still think doing a pseudoscientific lockdown of Wuhan 3 months after the virus emerged contained it (even though it spread to every continent on the planet) and further still think that it's anywhere remotely possible for 330,000,000 people to all do something together (stay locked inside for 2-4 weeks?) when millions of infections were already widespread throughout the USA.

So for exactly 1 month we will shut down pharmacies, nursing homes, elderly care facilities, veterinarians, airplanes, airports, buses, dentists, hospitals, contact tracers, administrators, urgent care centers, doctor offices, cancer screenings, roads, everyone in the energy sector, fire dept, ambulances, plumbing, waste disposal, public transportation, dept of defense, police, CIA, FBI, NSA, DEA, ATF, ICE, grocery stores, agriculture, suppliers, transporters, distributors, warehouses, IT, mfg of medical supplies, medical supply stores, banks, nuclear facilities, Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, ... you serious Clark?

Oh, and how will you enforce stopping 330 million people from interacting with each other?
