I agree it's pros and cons. People often talk about the security vs freedom debate but that's a simple way of looking at it. There's a third variable: convenience. And it's not even clear cut. Like a phone presents all those potential pitfalls like ability to be tracked, mic'd, watched but also allows you freedom to do things you couldn't otherwise as well as provide greater convenience.
