Meaning everyone was hyped about it but had very little impact overall.

Some I remember:
Shaq being traded to the Cavs.
Iverson signing with the Grizzlies (yes that was actually a big deal in the moment)

C-Webb being traded to Philadelphia in 2005 was a big deal. How AI finally had his 2nd option, how Philly was going to contend and AI himself giddily talking about never playing with someone of C-Webb's caliber.

Didn't quite turn out that way :oldlol:. C-Webb was a shell of his old self after his 2003 knee injury. Could still accumulate decent stats, but they were mostly empty. Philadelphia was barely a playoff contender in his 2 years there and was quickly traded in 2007.

Phil Jackson to the Knicks.

Unfortunately people forgot he needs the two greatest SGs of all time to be successful.

Carmelo's entire career comes to mind.... what did he ever get accomplished? Nothing (one good playoff run with Nuggets in 08-09)

the guy would've had even more hype if it weren't for Lebron.

Always hated that guy... glad his career failed.

Why did you hate him? Harmless dude, and he's lived through enough scrutiny and being made fun of now

Did he ever have a big 3 to win a championship with?
Where were the Nuggets before he got there ?
Could any single player turn around the Knicks?

As if he never brought it on himself. Melo is the guy who faked being knocked out because he was mad at the refs.

idk, I saw him on an episode of Punk'd way back in the day... just his attitude in that episode rubbed me the wrong way.

hated him ever since.

and for some reason I really hate his wife's name: La La

I don't know anything about her personally... just really hate that name for some reason.

Scottie Pippen to the Houston Rockets in 1999.

Hyped as the next coming, but his inability to fit in the established Rockets offense (stood around a lot on the perimeter while Barkley and Olajuwon monopolized the ball with post-ups). All that hype quickly disappeared with that first round faceplant in the playoffs.

I’m bumping this because I’m sure there is more to add and I’ll get around to it tomorrow if I see it.

Bynum signing with Philadelphia. Talk about being hoodwinked.

Iverson joining Melo/Smith/Kmart/Camby/Nene. They were good, but their expectations were greater. Denver was a better team in 2009...after AI was traded.

Dale Davis and Shawn Kemp going to the Blazers in 2000-01, really felt it was their year with the additional depth.

Shaq ending up on the Suns in 2008.

He still had a rump of his All-Star prowess left, and everyone expected him to spice up the already-compelling Lakers-Suns rivalry while the Shaq-Kobe feud was fresh in everyone's minds. Sadly, the playoffs match-up never materialized because the Suns were disadvantageously seeded despite their 55 wins (a close-packed Western conference, that season had), so the Spurs ousted them in the first round.

The Diesel—then dubbed as The Shaqtus—wasn't going to truly move the needle on the Suns (conversely, they were regressive years for his new team), but a match-up with his former team would've been enthralling regardless of the outcome. I was even rooting for the Spurs-Suns series to go beyond five games, considering his rivalrous history with Duncan.

In the end, Shaq was just forgettably passing through another team, which was a similar thread for the rest of his career.

Greg Oden coming back to play. I'll admit, I was excited too. Shame his career was ruined by injuries.

C-Webb to Philly.

D-wade signing with the cleveland cavaliers before the '17-18 season, only to be traded back to his original team the miami heat slightly more than 3 months after that season started.
