View Full Version : marc gasol appreciation thread
marc gasol is a beast. it runs in the DNA of their family. he single-handedly shut down two allstar centers in one playoff run. and then he lead his country to a gold medal in the summer. jonas - we appreciate you for being a great draft pick and for getting us gasol for last year. :applause:

you dont see too many centers with his patience, intelligence, and skill.

the gasols are actually amazing both marc and pau do a lot of incredible charity work. they're both character guys.
marc had an incredible summer. he did his work in the first two rounds most importantly he shut embiid down so he was the defensive anchor. embiid is a future superstar. then he was his country's best player and lead spain to a fiba world cup gold medal. well deserved for this late bloomer.

true pau was longer and a better natural scorer, marc is a better QB and defender.

marc is just a bigass dude. if pau got punked by kg mentally and physically then he'd get smoked by some of the bigger all-time centers that marc could guard.

The lakers probably wouldve been better off with marc over pau. I do believe pau is overall better player, but LA already had great scoring.
Can you imagine Marc Gasol in the triangle with peak Kobe? It's like tom brady and aaron rodgers on one team.
Im so nba'd out

Great low post and pick and roll defender.Great at being in position to stop drives too

no they wouldnt. pau was an absolute beast after 2008. he just had to get wrecked to toughen up and come back even better.
highwhey

Very smart player. He'd keep one foot outside to prevent from being called on a 3 sec violation.

marc wouldve definitely destroyed that version of dwight though, thats a guarantee. he'd play well against the celtics too in a slow defensive grind-out series.

In 2009 and 2010 Pau put up literally Tim Duncan PRIME Finals stats (2003 and 2005) and bois forget about him
19/11/3/2/1 vs 19/13/3/2/1
Legit

i mean... the magic and celtics were the lakers toughest comp lol...
if you think marc wouldve done better vs them than pau, you have to also think hed be a better sidekick overall from a team winning perspective.
the defense would be unstoppable with kobe, artest, marc and odom.
superduper

So it took a team with the best Raptors player ever, the best Grizzlies player ever, and the second best Spurs player ever to beat the Warriors who were down 2 starters. Sounds about right.

Im just saying pau is the better player even though marc is no slouch. and that defense was already unstoppable with pau and odom, that length and skill was easily the best frontcourt in the league.

Yeah his defense was so important against Vucevic, Embiid, and Giannis. Only weakness was his lack of speed, other than that he was for sure the key player during last years championship run.

He plays so well on both sides of the court. It's been an absolute pleasure watching this guy.
big fan of the way he made embiid cry, and then gave him a shoulder to cry on afterward.
that's a true gentleman right there. KG wouldve told embiid to **** off and find a glass of warm milk and a milk bottle to drink it with.
