It's over, I was trying to give Trump a chance but today he brag-tweeted about the rating numbers of his press conference during a national emergency/pandemic.
I don't care if Biden is a weekend at Bernie's corpse at this point... we have to get him elected. I don't want Biden but Trump is acting AS LOW IQ AS IT GETS.

President Trump has more Twitter follower than Obama did at same point into his Presidency.
But anyway, Trump's complaint is about the media disliking the fact that he's reaching too many people.
Because the “Ratings” of my News Conferences etc. are so high, “Bachelor finale, Monday Night Football type numbers” according to the @nytimes, the Lamestream Media is going CRAZY. “Trump is reaching too many people, we must stop him.” said one lunatic. See you at 5:00 P.M.!

We had it GOOD pre-coronavirus. I stopped by my parents place a couple dsys ago. It was at 8pm, cold as fvck. Had to wait on the porch bc i don't want to risk getting my mom sick. Meanwhile she made me some sandwiches, i thought to myself, "damn man, this is a sad reality".

He was just copy and pasting a negative NY Times article about himself, through multiple Tweets.
Trump is playing 3D chess. This is all fundamental, 2nd nature habits for him, in terms of getting his name out there, getting the people who dislike him outrage over something out of context, and in turn that leading to his followers doubling down.

Donald Trump is beyond incredibly insecure. He's thin skinned and it causes him to say and do things that are beyond silly for someone that is the POTUS. There's no disputing that or arguing with it or calling it anything other than what it is. He is deeply insecure.
However, anyone that thinks he's actually retarded or that he's stupid or even that he's of average intelligence or below... well, they're not paying attention, they're easily manipulated by the media and they're likely stupid themselves. Donald Trump, even with the help from his father, did not just get to where he is at both in business and in politics... on accident. Donald Trump is extremely socially aware and very good at manipulating people to achieve what he wants. He's significantly more clever than a large portion of people give him credit for.
I am not a Donald Trump fan and I will not vote for him but anyone who thinks he's just a complete idiot that lucked into everything he has achieved in life... well... there's a strong chance that they're the stupid one.

Trump got a substantial head start from his father, there's no disputing that. And I honestly don't think he's even that great of a businessman, the guy has had literally a dozen+ business failings ranging from steaks to vodka to most infamously Atlantic City, and he's had to declare bankruptcy 4 times.
I think where he does excel is marketing, branding and being an entertainer. He managed to brand the Trump name as being synonymous with luxury and success, and even though he has a track record that suggests otherwise, he's managed to convince roughly half the country he's a savvy businessman. He's also very good, as most successful politicians are, at being manipulative and preying on peoples fears.
I definitely wouldn't call him stupid, he actually sounded a lot more intelligent and articulate when he was younger. But now in his advanced age, he definitely says and does some really stupid things, and his ignorance on several issues, like with this virus, has been costly.

I mean saying he’s great at marketing is essentially what I was driving at in a roundabout way when I was talking about his social ability but marketing is surely not the only area in which he excels. And while yes it is true that he had to file various bankruptcies, there he sits with millions if not billions and billions of dollars... arguably the most powerful individual on the entire planet.
As far as the virus goes... I’m not sure specifically what you mean because I haven’t stayed glued to the news about this but I definitely think there are some holes in his intelligence... I mean this is a guy that used to go on Alex Jones’ show with some quasi-regularity if I recall correctly... I know that he went on at least once which is one time too many.
The overall point that I was making was basically just that it’s incredibly incorrect and very dismissive to just label Trump as an idiot. There are definitely aspects to his intellect that far exceed the average person’s so it’s just flat out factually incorrect to label him as stupid and be so dismissive of his overall cognitive ability.

I saw one interesting thing with Alex Jones, it was him talking about the Vegas shooting under oath at a deposition when he was being sued. He was pretty adamant that he had a source inside the CIA on his take there, and had signed an NDA to be allowed to see something.
I thought it was note worthy because he admitted to a lot during that deposition, talking about how he'd just report stories from various users, 4 chan etc, but when they briefly talked about Vegas he was quite different.

Trump has the right idea, I wish him luck for all of us. That said, this is where a female president would be ideal. I'd rather get my cheerleading from a woman. Women can be much more empathetic than men, generally speaking. That also said, women can also cut a man's dick off for being scorned.

You think the situation right now is out of control? Did you not expect society to gradually shut down when more people are getting infected?
People are practicing social distancing, shops and society has been more or less shut down in order flatten the curve.
Lot's of people have been working to find treatment. Lot's of people are working on a vaccine.
The response of the US is very much in line with the response of almost every other Western country, a response to a pandemic that we knew was coming and with no vaccine available. For some reason though, a perception appears that for the US, it is Trump who's creating the outfall and not the virus itself.

I don't think anyone rational is blaming Trump for the virus, but it's pretty clear he did not take this seriously, or at least seriously enough. He seemed nonchalant about the whole thing, even talked about it being hyped up to hurt his election chances in November, before recently finally coming to terms with the severity of the situation

The general media portrayal I'm seeing, and this is not in a direct sense but more holistic, is that they're trying to create a connection between the victims of this virus and the response or lack of from Trump.
They are trying to paint a picture that the US is much worse hit than other Western countries, because the lack of response.
Fact is that the US is hit more or less on the same level as Europe, because the response is very similar.
Yes Trump sounded stupid when he was trying to downplay the severity of the virus while talking to the public, but if he really thought that, then how come the response made by the US follows that of other Western countries?

If you don't think Trump has bungled his response to this outbreak than there is no point in even debating with you. There isn't one Trump critic that blames him for the virus but we had at least two months to do something about it. WHO was warning us for the potential of a global pandemic, China was a shit show months before it started happening in Europe and then later in the US...but Trump was too busy calling it a hoax instead of ramping up on PPE, ventilators and accepting the covid19 tests the WHO was offering. His biggest concern was not upsetting Wall Street because it might negatively affect his chances in November, hence his overly rosey tone as Europe was in chaos.

You don't agree with that statement? Remember that the goal was always to flatten the curve, not to stop the disease because we can't without a vaccine or fast cure.
Just a couple weeks ago the going projections here was for 75-150 million Americans to get infected and a 3.4% mortality rate resulting in millions of deaths.

This virus was coming here no matter what, I love how people try to blame Trump for the state of COVID-19 in the United States. Laughable. Pathetic. Hilarious. So many words describe my feelings on that thought.
Short of completely and I do mean completely barring international travel, completely barring foreign trade, including but not limited to restricting all United States citizens from coming back into the country, this was coming here no matter what other steps we took and we were not going to be prepared. That was never going to happen with this president or any other president in the history of the United States. Not a single one would have taken the necessary steps to keep it completely out of the country.
Do you think him never being in denial about it for a few weeks or not calling it a hoax would have changed anything?
Even after everything the media has done to cover this story, there is a significantly large portion of the population that does not take this seriously in the slightest and are ignorantly continuing to spread it all day long. That has absolutely nothing to do with Donald Trump.
There was no way for him to navigate this properly. What do you want from him, to get on TV and talk calmly every day with no personality? Ok, maybe so, but that was never going to change anything.
You people are just looking for a target to be upset at, and like clockwork, it's Donald Trump. It's fascinating, really.

Also, I'd like to add, there was never going to be enough PPE gear regardless of what Trump could have realistically done or not done. A lot of that type of stuff is made in China, and they had already swooped swaths of it up domestically and internationally, including in the US, to send back home before our public even began to realize the extent of the problem.
What president would have shut down GM ahead of time and invoked a war time law in order to commandeer the company in order to try to properly beef up our ventilator numbers? None of them. Not a single president.

It's strange you refuse to acknowledge Trump's public messaging and its effects. Downplaying of the virus for months had a very real impact on public education to wash their hands, cover their mouths when coughing, staying away from each other. We will not know how long it was circulating in the states until we get large scale antibody testing data so it's up in the air what the travel ban really accomplished in numbers. Wuhan shut down on Jan 23rd, it's very possible tourists had already been infected and travelling through European airports infecting Americans travelling for eight days before the travel ban. On the same day, Secretary Azar declared a public health emergency on Jan 31st while Trump was later on Fox News contradicting his health agency. When Trump says the problem is going away for weeks, it obviously had a direct effect in the public taking the guidelines seriously.

Did Trump Administration Fire the US Pandemic Response Team?
As a new coronavirus spread in 2020, so did concerns about the United States' preparedness for a potential pandemic.
Claim
The Trump administration fired the U.S. pandemic response team in 2018 to cut costs.
Rating
True
Origin
Amid warnings from public health officials that a 2020 outbreak of a new coronavirus could soon become a pandemic involving the U.S., alarmed readers asked Snopes to verify a rumor that U.S. President Donald Trump had “fired the entire pandemic response team two years ago and then didn’t replace them.”
(article too long, click link to read it complete)
Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer abruptly departed from his post leading the global health security team on the National Security Council in May 2018 amid a reorganization of the council by then-National Security Advisor John Bolton, and Ziemer’s team was disbanded. Tom Bossert, whom the Washington Post reported “had called for a comprehensive biodefense strategy against pandemics and biological attacks,” had been fired one month prior.
It’s thus true that the Trump administration axed the executive branch team responsible for coordinating a response to a pandemic and did not replace it, eliminating Ziemer’s position and reassigning others, although Bolton was the executive at the top of the National Security Council chain of command at the time.
Legum stated in a follow-up tweet that “Trump also cut funding for the CDC, forcing the CDC to cancel its efforts to help countries prevent infectious-disease threats from becoming epidemics in 39 of 49 countries in 2018. Among the countries abandoned? China.” That was partly true, according to 2018 news reports stating that funding for the CDC’s global disease outbreak prevention efforts had been reduced by 80%, including funding for the agency’s efforts in China.
But that was the result of the anticipated depletion of previously allotted funding, not a direct cut by the Trump administration. And as the CDC told FactCheck.org, the cuts were ultimately avoided because Congress provided other funding.
On Feb. 24, 2020, the Trump administration requested $2.5 billion to address the coronavirus outbreak, an outlay critics asserted might not have been necessary if the previous program cuts had not taken place. Fortune reported of the issue that:
The cuts could be especially problematic as COVID-19 continues to spread. Health officials are now warning the U.S. is unlikely to be spared, even though cases are minimal here so far.
The coronavirus was first detected in Wuhan, China, in the winter of 2019, and cases spread around the globe. The U.S. had 57 confirmed cases as of this writing, while globally, roughly 80,000 patients had been sickened with the virus and 3,000 had died. As of yet, no vaccine or pharmaceutical treatment for the new coronavirus. Data from China suggests the coronavirus has a higher fatality rate than the seasonal flu, although outcomes depend on factors such as the age and underlying health of the patient.
Readers can find the latest coronavirus information from the CDC here.

Ziemer left. He wasn't "eliminated."
In May 2018, Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer, the senior director of global health and biodefense on the National Security Council, left the administration. He was in charge of the U.S. response to pandemics.
After Ziemer’s departure, the global health team was reorganized as part of an effort by then-National Security Adviser John Bolton. Meanwhile, Tom Bossert, a homeland security adviser who recommended strong defenses against disease, left shortly after Bolton arrived.
The White House didn’t replace either White House official or his team. Instead, Trump looked within his administration to fill roles for the coronavirus response.
In January, Trump appointed his Health and Human Services secretary, Alex Azar, to chair a coronavirus task force. On Feb. 26, he announced that Vice President Mike Pence would take charge of the U.S. response to the coronavirus.

Exactly. This is supposed to be the greatest country in the world, the country who lead the way. The country with all the brilliance, money and military might. But now people are suddenly content with being the same as everyone else. Cults are real. And this cult affects us all.
