Just for reference here are the percentages for their career:

From 10'-16'
Derozan: 42.8%
Paul: 48.1%

From 16' to the 3 point line
Derozan: 38.5%
Paul: 46.1%

I don't have the data, not sure where you could even get it, but it wouldn't surprise me if Paul is statistically the best mid/long range shooter ever. Derozan just shoots a shit ton from those ranges which overrates his abilities. He isn't "bad" at it but he isn't elite.

Where do you get the data from and is it available pre 00?

Can you check Kawhi's? I'd be pretty interested in his midrange numbers.

on basketball-reference.com and you have to look at each player and as far as I can tell you can't search for those shooting stats in their database.

Kawhi:

10-16: 46.6%
16 to 3 point: 44.2%

KD?

10-16: 45.7%
16 to 3 point: 44%

So looks like I was wrong a bit about Paul being one of the best in history. He always gets praised for it so I just assumed without looking at a bunch of other players.

One huge caveat to the "midrange is dead" crowd is that it's only really the superstars that are great at it. Triple threat scores are almost always superstars on offense. This whole moving away from midrange is more designed for players who suck at it and shouldn't be shooting those shots.

Thanks, pretty cool. Would love the numbers for Bird. Kawhi's meet the eyetest.

How were you wrong about Chris Paul?

He had better percentages than all three guys?

KD, Kawhi, CP3, Middleton etc are far better

demar is a terrible defender. if he was even decent on that end then he'd be a huge asset.

Give him Scottie Pippen and he would flourish
