View Full Version : My theory. Coronaviruses are human killers but COVID-19 might have saved us

Viruses have probably been around since the dawn of life. They were definitely infecting organisms 100s of millions of years ago. The earliest proof of the coronavirus is 8000 years ago in animals, mostly flying animals, which in terms of evolution is the blink of an eye.

The first human coronavirus wasn't detected until the 60s. And of the 7 known human coronaviruses, 5 have been discovered just in the last 20 years, with 3 of them being much more deadly than typical flu viruses.

If you notice, these coronaviruses have devastating consequences on species with unnatural populations. Namely domesticated animals and humans. It's like it evolved to prey on parasite species of the planet. Wild populations of animals however don't suffer the same consequences from it like we do.

There have been 3 very deadly, highly contagious coronaviruses affecting humans in just the last 17 years alone. I think nature has sent out its human killer and it will keep trying to send more strains until it reduces our population significantly or we develop technology to stop it.

Here's where I'm seeing the good news, or at least a silver lining if you will. As of late, we were not prepared for a pandemic. People were unwilling to quarantine, nor act quickly to stop it until it was on THEIR doorstep. This virus is nowhere near as deadly as the SARS and MERS coronavirus but much more contagious. Can you imagine if we had been caught with our pants down trying to battle a coronavirus contagious as COVID-19 but deadly as MERS? It's my belief another coronavirus like this will come soon but we will be much more prepared for it. I can even see a nation being nuked with WHO approval if it's deadly enough
