That's why they lost as the massive favorite - 4th quarter decline
Of course, the stats show it's Lebron's fault.
In the 4th, Lebron averaged 8.8 points on 46%, but that's a drop-off from his first 3 quarters averages of 9.9 points on 53%..
Games 1, 2, and 4 were 1-point games or OT games.
The stats also show that Lebron took less jumpers in the 4th and his jumpshot efficiency cratered, so the Magic could sag off more and pack the paint.. Furthermore, his assist percentage increased a lot in the 4th, so he started dominating the ball more and getting away from the more equitable distribution of assists that had worked the first 3 quarters.

This nikka lives to make LeBron threads lol, this was probably the first thing he did when he woke up this morning
But of course, not surprisingly, he's lying as usual. Cavs never had the lead in the 4th in Game 3

Out of the 459 series played since 1988, exactly 100 were betting upsets, with only 7 of those 100 being upsets of +500 or more.
The 2009 ECF was one of those top 7, with the Cavs being -550 favorites

So it's literally one of the top 7 upsets ever
3ball is right that it was an upset - because lebron overachieved and pulled off the miracle of carrying that shitty cast to 66 wins.
mo williams and delonte the best guards or wings on the team.
frontcourt of retirement-mode ilgauskas and andy varejao.
66 wins. because of this guy. the greatest of all-time at carrying shitty casts.

His cast wasn't shitty compared to anyone else in the conference
Dwight's cast was equally-weak, which is why they were a massive dog
And why didn't they win 66 in 08'?.. what was the difference?

you already admit that you didnt watch the series - did you or did I just make that up?
FYI a stacked team is a team that is capable of winning 50+ games without their first option.
that means there is probably some great leadership from whoever is running the show as the captain of the team during that time.

Lebrons jump shot and 4th quarter play massively improved.
Despite less PPG it’s clear that defenses had to be more on their toes.
Plus he learned to close games effectively

How did that worked out for Lebron once he went to the West? That's right no playoff for 2 years and counting
Not hard to carry a Top 5 defensive team in the NBA at that time, especially if you are playing in the weak East
Sit down kid and keep giving your hero BJ all day long, know your place in life son

The Lakers clinched a playoff spot this year

LeBron kinda choked it was a winnable series and magics strategy was letting LeBron get his and shut down the rest which makes it even worse.

Game 4 OT
Dwight... 4-4
Lebron... 2-6
Clutch Stats 2009 ECF - last 3 minutes, within 5 points
Lebron (https://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/shot_finder.cgi?request=1&match=play&year_id=2009&game_num_min=0&game_num_max=99&is_playoffs=Y&opp_id=ORL&q4=Y&q5=Y&time_remain_minutes=3&time_remain_seconds=0&time_remain_comp=le&margin_min=-5&margin_max=5&player_id=jamesle01&order_by=date_game).... 36.3% (4-11)

^^^ Lebron does a poor job of getting teammates looks in the clutch.. he "elevates" teammates but just not in the clutch lol
But come to think of it, 66 wins ain't even half bad at all. It's still a franchise record for the cavs 11 years later.
However, it's going to be treated similarly to the 73-win season of the dubs 4 years ago, since needless to say, it is without a ring. But in the case of the cavs, in a very less prominent manner ofc.
Too bad all the homecourt advantage in the postseason had to be wasted in their respective losses tho.

Cavaliers were massive favorites heading into the series. litearlly every pundit on ESPN picked them
it was embarrassing and entirely lebron's fault
Hedo was so clutch that year. Lewis was great too.
they're lucky dude. its probably the only time in their NBA career where they were ever guarded by such midgets or slow players in their life. probably felt like rec league shooting over those scrubs.
