The league inserting itself to turn the tide of the series was outrageous. While wrecking the lesser player and his pretensions was a nice collateral effect, the true satisfaction came from throwing a spanner in the machinations of the league and turning the finals into short 5 and 4 game affairs that reversed any benefits they got from prolonging the 2016 finals with their intervention.
