Educate yourself, young grasshopper.

Most of this 80's-90's D is a joke. No hands up, no handchecking, smaller opponents, stupid decisions to not contest.

I've seen hundreds of hours of ball during these decades.

You've seen highlight reels.

80s and early 90s were a joke defensively. Nothing new.

2007 was arguably worse

Also do we really wanna bring in quotes on what Jordan would do today? Lol

'07 he played like dogshit, but that's a much more forgivable series. He was a massive underdog and actually wasn't afraid to shoot in the 4th quarter

Nice video.

You do know that Olajuwon was from that same era, right? So this clown ass OP saying MJ's competition was horrible, he's including Olajuwon, even if by proxy.

For sure. It's forgivable given his experience and all that but the comparison is Jordan against the 86 Celtics, which was similar if not worse given how great that team was and how terrible those Bulls were

That said the guy making the videos just trolls and sometimes its funny other times it just gets stale. I thought it was pretty funny he called Bird a plumber or some shit like that

I'm fascinated by that video for a multitude of reasons:

* The uploader appears or acts like he hates or does not think highly of white NBA basketball players when he is white. Not that that should matter but I guess it's weird that he thinks anyone in the NBA is inferior at all - those are the top players on the planet at any given time.
* The uploader thinks a multitude of transition plays (where the defense never even gets set - actually they're often chasing MJ) is an example of MJ "driving in the lane" - and seems to feel angry and lied to about old fans' hyperbolic statements about driving in the lane. It's weird because using completely unrelated transition plays as proof shows he doesn't understand the game, he doesn't know what those old fans are even talking about. A few plays he shows are actually the correct isolation style cuts or drives but in there I also noticed some extremely impressive collapsing defenses that Jordan wormed around to spin shots up that barely anyone could ever make which all leads me to conclude he has never actually understood even basic basketball in his life. Doesn't seem to know what type of play is what, or how difficult a shot or blow-by actually is when it happens.
* At first I thought he was definitely just trolling but sometimes the uploader, seems genuinely angry at times during his video - it feels oddly authentic and so - bizarrely I don't think he's trolling which means he's a really ignorant basketball fan that has really heated opinions about 1980's and 1990's basketball and feels lied to almost like a conspiracy theorist.

This is interesting stuff - hard to believe fans like this exist but I guess I shouldn't be surprised as there are people that think jet contrails are the government controlling our weather lol

I agree that Michael Jordan's competition wasn't as tough as it is now. That's just the way sports are for the most part, they become more enriched with a bigger talent pool to draw from. This is especially true of when sports are taking place in their infancy faces or at a level where they haven't reached maximum or close to maximum popularity. Think of the UFC for example. A sport just keeps getting more and more complex with a bigger talent pool. Look back to the early UFCs those guys were nowhere near as talented as they are now. Good but not amazing.

As the sports game popularity increases it becomes more competitive. So on the one hand Jordan beat everybody in his way, just like Bill Russell did, but just like Bill was also was knocked for playing in an inferior era that's what will happen to Jordan more and more. At the time nobody questioned Bill Russell's competition. It was the best of the best! But as a sport evolves the fans noticed. And they are noticing it with Michael Jordan now.

But who knows, maybe in 25 more years the league will then become so much more advanced we will make fun of the era LeBron is playing in. There is no way to know for sure. The only thing we know for sure is that Jordan played any tougher League that Bill Russell, and LeBron James played in a tougher league than Michael Jordan. That's just how it is.

I was a huge lebron fan still up to that point. Remember thinking I really was seeing greatness.
