Kawhit is the biggest beneficiary of this IMO. LeBron and Lakers had all the momentum going into the playoffs. Kawhit has nagging leg injuries that he's been able to heal now. Would be a nuclear disaster if at age 28 he can't win a ring with the most stacked team in the West.

If LeBron somehow pulls of a miracle at age 35 against rested young superstars it could potentially rival his 2016 ring as the best in sports history.

problem is, as Bron said, normally his body is ready at that playoff time, gearing up as it ends near regular season, full intensity.. he said it was like his body is a little confused with the break now.

They'll reopen for individual workouts, not team practices. It's even less preparative than your typical offseason, because many players are too precautious to use it (if their teams even allow them to) and they'll all need to be fairly staggered to allow for sanitation.

Who knows how long those will even last? After the rate of infections continue spiking (the post-reopening ones will be mostly latent for a few weeks), those states will be hard-pressed not to reimpose their stay-at-home restrictions.

I'm itching for the NBA just as much as everyone else, but this does nothing to convince me it's resuming anytime soon. Until we have more encouraging news, we just need to steel ourselves for the likelihood that private industries—from sports to retail—won't normalize this summer, realistically speaking.
