Yes I heard that. What I also heard was that disinfectant is a common treatment in blood purification.

Viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 and Influenza are lipophilic, enveloped viruses, and are relatively easy to inactivate by exposure to alcohols. The envelope mainly consists of the lipid bilayer, taken from the host cells at assembly/budding stage of the viral life cycle. Therefore the constitution of the lipid bilayer should be common in all SARS, MERS and influenza viruses, even after mutations, and thus these closely-related viruses will be disinfected by exposure to ethanol with the same concentration. Existing experimental data indicate that an ethanol concentration of 30~40 v/v% is sufficient to inactivate Influenza-A viruses in solution[1,2,3]. The author suggests that it may be possible to use alcoholic beverages of 16~20 v/v% concentration for this disinfection process, such as Whisky (1:1 hot water dilution) or Japanese Sake, because they are readily available and safe (non-toxic). By inhaling the alcohol vapor at 50~60°C (122~140°F) through the nose for one or two minutes, it will condense on surfaces inside the respiratory tract; mainly in the nasal cavity.

You don't inject alcohol into the bloodstream to kill viruses :oldlol:

Just inhaling alcohol can damage your nasal linings, the lung pathway and the lungs themselves before it even reaches the virus cells embedded within the pockets of your lungs. It is dangerous enough that doctors and scientists don't even attempt that..

I don’t know the severity of your sons condition, the urgency of needing to do that bleach bath method, or whether or not there were less toxic substances like hydrogen peroxide that could have been used, but as a general rule of thumb I wouldn’t mess with products like that.

The whole nonsense liberal blow up brought up the question of whether it was ever used or tested for reducing viral load and look what I found:
Source:

https://aem.asm.org/content/aem/55/12/3113.full.pdf

The study reports that in vivo testing of viruses is not well studied. Obviously there are a lot of blow up regarding the efficacy of disinfectants in vivo, but questioning its effectiveness is not wrong... as seen above there have only been a minimal amount of studies done unfortunately.

In a separate set of experiments using three volunteers, four hand-washing agents and tap water alone were compared for their abilities to remove the rotavirus and E. colifrom experimentally contaminated finger pads (Table 3). Thedifferences in the mean percent removals for the virus andthe bacterium were not statistically significant for the alcohols, the alcoholic solution of Savlon, the soap, or the tapwater alone. However, there was a statistically significantdifference (P = <0.0001) between the mean percent removals of E. coli (98.9%) and the rotavirus (80.6%)

So washing hands with alcohol was more effective (99.9%) in comparison to in vivo at the fingers edge (80.6%) (finger pad)...

Point of all this is that what trump brought up is not completely asinine, it is a hypothesis that was once thought of and researched. I don't know any IRB that would be willing to allow alcohol vapors to be inhaled unless it was end-stage. Now alcohol is a bit different in terms of its effects on the body and the it being a blood thinner -- but there are other disinfectants out there that may be better suited.

With the 5 or 6billion dollar budget, this is exactly what the CDC should be doing...

Using alcohol or other fat dissolving agents on surfaces is totally different from inhaling it or any other intake - some agents even get absorbe by skin. Of course a virus, which is protected by a lipid layer will get destroyed by the afforementioned fat dissolving agent. These agents are pretty toxic for humans.

Inhaling low levels of ethanol fumes will do nothing on the virus. High levels will get you acohol poisoning and might still not kill the virus anyway.

The most popular disinfectant in America is Lysol so that's the first thing people think of.. Trump didn't say Lysol, but he was clearly referring to disinfectants like Lysol as cited in the PowerPoint he just finished watching (Lysol was actually cited as an example next to the 'disinfectant' section in that very PowerPoint)

Disinfectants are also not meant to be injected intravenously into the organs. They are meant to be used on surfaces like tables, chairs, dishware and laundry. You could probably use them on the skin, but probably only under guidance of a doctor because the skin absorbs liquids. You have to be careful to not inhale because that could be dangerous and damaging to the linings of your nasal passage, lungs and the pathway to lungs. But it is not meant to be injected into the organs to clean out organs like lungs.

thats the main issue that you're stuck on - "injest lysol"
everyone knows he didnt say that, but people use that phrase for comedic effect.
That's because the reality of it is people ACTUALLY believe it. Especially the Trump haters who spread it like facts. Literally Trump believers believe it. I'm speaking with a Trump hater right now who's convinced he actually DID say Lysol. All I wanted to know is where did he say it? If someone had cited it I would have joined in on the roasting.

He said inject disinfectant. which was a follow up to what he was reading on a poster about how to keep houses/belongings clean, right before he did that presser. thats whats fcking retarded about it.

Nobody pointed that out. If this was a rational conversation people may have pointed out a rational fact

And to make it an even bigger lulz, you now have all the trump supporters on here scouring the internet for any/every obscure site that might have anything to do with "disinfectant as a medical treatment", saying that's exactly what trump met
But that's what critical thinkers do, no? Do research to back up claims? Is it better to follow the masses and FB share every blown out of proportion meme? Doesn't it go the other way when Trump spits some sort of truth like let's say the employment rate and all the haters jump on line looking for any information to debunk it?

I was trying to have a rational conversation and I thought it was a simple question to get a simple answer. I should have known I couldn't acheive that here. I don't know Why I even starting posting again. Isolation brain displacement I guess

What I actually heard was he regurgitated a hypothesis and told doctors to continue their studies. Now what I see is adventageous Trump haters using it as fodder to entertain themselves. With the majority thinking it's facts

I'm not gonna even debate anymore about this. Had a credible scientist non-Trump related went on MSNBC and said they were making breakthroughs with injecting disinfectants the world world be jumping for joy. Both sides alike. That's where I find more hypocrisy.

I made this thread to find out if there was fact behind Trump saying inject Lysol. There isn't. so TDS sufferers like you feel the need to justify their exaggerations by attacking such a non-provoking question. you made this thread to defend Trump. You clearly love him. Post after post of you whining because people use a specific brand name of disinfectant. You don't have a real point to make.

Something a TDS sufferer would say to deflect the fact they have it. Do you even know what TDS stands for? Lol. Look how inclined you are to attack a so-called Trump supporter over asking did he really say Lysol? That's how deranged you are. It could have been a simple no he didn't, but you feel the need to insist that he's an idiot. Lol Lysol is a disinfectant and thus a joke was made. The hurt to your feelings is unfortunate.

I said he didn't know what he's talking about, but I was right when I confirmed he didn't suggest Lysol. So no you didn't get it. Don't expect you to. I'm more willing to bet you're gonna come up with another way to epress your TDS and find another loophole to attack me And yet here you are crying and defending him anyway.

Another TDS tactic. Accuse people of being a supporter for asking questions You are arguing with 4 or 5 people at The same time for his sake. You most likely voted for him and will again. You are a Trump supporter.

I find it funny, I ask if any can cite where Trump said use Lysol and here you are, the most heavily invested in this thread crying. :lol didn't know I made this thread. Interesting. But that would explain why his defense has gone so poorly.

It doesn't matter if he ment Lysol. You're so hung up on that one brand. It's one disifectant. It gets brought up as an example, but there's no form, Lysol or not which is used within the body.

It doesn't matter to me. But it seems to matter to the millions who hate Trump including Pelosi when she literally said Trump told people to inject Lysol

Also look up UVGI. It's considered a disinfectant.

Not used within the body. It literally destroys DNA, which is a save way to get cancer.

Why can't you fanboys let it slide. I don't care if you love Trump or not. I don't live in the US. Idgaf about his policies as long as they don't affect me, but he simply said something insanely stupid. Why is it so hard to say the guy you root for is a doofus?

I think Trump is a complete buffoon. But people who don't think disinfectant can be used inside the body are narrow-minded. Look up ozone therapy.

Ozone therapy is an alternative medical treatment that introduces ozone or ozonides to the body. In April 2003, the FDA prohibited all medical uses of ozone, "In any medical condition for which there is no proof of safety and effectiveness", stating "Ozone is a toxic gas with no known useful medical application in specific, adjunctive, or preventive therapy. In order for ozone to be effective as a germicide, it must be present in a concentration far greater than that which can be safely tolerated by man and animals."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozone_therapy

As I said multiple times. There's no disinfectant with a LD50 high enough to harm a desease, but not the body itself.

Btw, the PowerPoint listed bleach as example of disinfectant, not Lysol. Bleach is even worse to breathe in or inject into your body so what Donny suggested looks even worse. The doctor uses bleach as an example of disinfectant in PowerPoint and this moron Donny is suggesting if disinfectants can be injected into the lungs. No credible person, let alone a scientist, would ever suggest injecting bleach into the lungs to clean them of viruses.

What I actually heard was he regurgitated a hypothesis and told doctors to continue their studies. Now what I see is adventageous Trump haters using it as fodder to entertain themselves. With the majority thinking it's facts

Lol, whose original hypothesis was it to inject a disinfectant into the lungs to clean the lungs? Where did he hear that? And no, he wasn't simply telling them to continue their research. He was telling them that the treatments he had thought up or had heard from somewhere were things they should look into. Here is Trump, quoted:

So, supposedly when we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and I think you said that hasn’t been checked, but you’re going to test it. And then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you’re going to test that too. Sounds interesting, right? And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me.

When he says, "And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute," the information below is what was presented at the briefing that he "saw" and was referring to:

https://www.chicagotribune.com/resizer/8r3CaLByQ3_NCPn8JCvTPwSpbZ4=/800x533/top/arc-anglerfish-arc2-prod-tronc.s3.amazonaws.com/public/SIBAOIMPS5BIVKWVVYRJW4NALU.JPG

He's not a blue collar worker. They have commin sense and some sort of educational level. Some of his comments are below a 4th grade elementary school kid.

Also no it's not the scientific approach. The scientific approach is to put up a hypothesis and start proofing it, let the results be peer reviewed and then publish it.

He was at the hypothesis stage and made it public. A hypothesis that was disproved long before he even put it up as the chemicals he refered to have to be tested before they're allowed onto the market.

Generally, when someone tries to speculate on things that are 'out of their comprehension,' they tend to look stupid. No one is reaching... no one had to reach... Trump got all the way there by himself. Trump suggested that medical experts look into injecting disinfectants as a means of cleaning the lungs after learning that disinfectants are effective in destroying coronavirus on surfaces. We've known for centuries that chemicals meet for effectively disinfecting surfaces can be highly toxic and destructive when the they interact with human tissue... especially internal tissue. There's no 'seeing things differently.'

At this point, it's not even about people being Trump lovers. It's about people being delusional in their defense such asinine comments by Trump. :confusedshrug:

Trump suggested that medical experts look into injecting disinfectants as a means of cleaning the lungs after learning that disinfectants are effective in destroying coronavirus on surfaces. We've known for centuries that chemicals meet for effectively disinfecting surfaces can be highly toxic and destructive when the they interact with human tissue... especially internal tissue. There's no 'seeing things differently.'

At this point, it's not even about people being Trump lovers. It's about people being delusional in their defense such asinine comments by Trump. :confusedshrug:
Right, he's commenting on things he is not an expert on. Never once did I say he was smart doing it. In fact I often say he's poor at articulating. People who hate him are trying to exploit that by over exaggerating what he said. Dumb people drinking bleach. The dumb people drinking bleach are the same people who apparently hate him. Why are they listening to him? Dumb people think he mean Lysol. Dumb Libtards I might add. That's what makes this whole scenario comical.

Let's just stop debating what disinfectant is and look at it as a whole.

You, and alot of people in the US, are so caught up in the libtard-trumptard bipartizan bullshit in your country that you don't see how you're instrumentalized by either party and their affiliates.

Trump isn't inarticulate. Trump is simply uneducated. Big difference. Don't know why it's hard to accept.

Again, the issue here isn't that he had difficulty articulating his idea; the issue is his idea. His idea would not have been any better received had he simply expressed it differently given that, at it's core, it is an incontrovertibly ridiculous notion. People are mocking the insanity of the idea he expressed by likening it to drinking bleach, as well as the fact that the President of the United States is publicly forwarding such insane ideas in the first place. I should point this out: injecting a disinfectant into the human body (which is what Trump said), and especially into the lungs, is actually worse than drinking disinfectant. If anything, people are downplaying what he said in favor of the stark imagery of drinking bleach.

I think what makes this comical for a lot of people is that the President of the United States has a severe knowledge deficit, and some supporters are trying their best to ignore or defend it in the middle of a pandemic.

And he says stuff like...

“I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it… Every one of these doctors said, ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president.”

There are certainly dumb people out there, no doubt. The question is whether Trump is fairly deserving of criticism and ridicule for publicly discussing a treatment for this virus, in the middle of a pandemic, that most 4th graders would rightfully recognize as a bad idea. The the jokes and memes about Lysol and bleach simply stem from that.

The person who believes that they can drink bleach has significant intellectual challenges. The person who believes that they can inject disinfectants into the human body to clean the lungs has significant intellectual challenges as well. Though the guy who drinks bleach isn't the President, we'd expect him to be smart enough to not drink bleach; but we'd also expect the President to have a minimum knowledge base, especially when surrounded by so many advisers and experts... so if we're really making a comparison, what you've said has Trump looking worse. :confusedshrug:

why dont you tell us what he meant then. because all evidence points to what the presenter before him was discussing, as well as what was on the visual aid behind him which Trump was studying before his speech - isopropyl alcohol and bleach. in fact, he referenced exactly what the presenter before him said and asked if theres a way to use said disinfectants internally because of how quickly they can kill covid on surfaces.

do you think it was just a crazy coincidence that the guy before him AND the poster behind him all referenced "disinfectants" as ways to kill SURFACE covid but in your eyes trump and co have actually been researching a new disinfectant whose sole purpose is to be used internally instead of something like an antiviral or antibiotic

There is a reason Trump has been trying to distance himself from those comments last week and screaming at his campaign manager when he told Trump that his poll numbers are dropping in the close states. His advisers have begged him to call off the daily briefings because they were hurting him more than helping. The disinfectant comments were cherry on top, which was the highlight. Lil Donny and his campaign people know the damage has been done. There is no walking back the comments even though he tried by saying he was being sarcastic. He knows (or was told) how ignorant it looks.

And OP is still trying to defend the disinfectants comment.. Just foolish and ridiculous.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2020/04/24/coronavirus-experts-warn-against-cristina-cuomos-bleach-baths-methods/3017294001/

As President Donald Trump appeared to question Thursday whether disinfectant could be used to treat coronavirus patients – to the dismay of medical professionals – Cuomo says she adds "½ cup ONLY of Clorox" to her bathwater to "combat the radiation and metals in my system and oxygenate it."

"We want to neutralize heavy metals because they slow-up the electromagnetic frequency of our cells, which is our energy field, and we need a good flow of energy," Cuomo explains.

She adds there is "no danger in doing this," comparing it to "a simple naturopathic treatment."

The official Clorox website disagrees, stressing that their bleach "is NOT recommended for personal hygiene of any kind–consumers should always avoid direct skin and eye contacts with both undiluted bleach, as well as prolonged contact with the various bleach solutions we recommend for household cleaning and laundry ... using a bleach and water solution for bathing is not approved by the EPA and should not be done.”
