Applied in mid-march when my job shut down. Thought I wasn't gonna get paid, I got accepted for unemployment then shortly after I found out my employer will pay our full pay checks during the pandemic even if we don't work. What's my next step? Should I call unemployment and explain my situation? Or do I still qualify for the money?

If you continue to collect unemployment you dont qualify for, you can be charged with fraud. I remember reading about a crackdown on this maybe six months ago or so.
Do yourself a favor. Dont **** around. We’re Makin America Great Again. Give the money back. You dont want The Don to come looking for you.

Just dont report. You may have qualified but you still have to fill out the claim every two weeks just dont fill it out and it will run out by itself. Check out the paper or you edd online claim it will expire if you dont claim.

If I stop certifying will my benefits be suspended all together, meaning I can't access money they already approved? I already been approved money, but haven't spent a dime.

Stop being a ****ing asshole. According to you, you never stopped getting paid. Which means you're committing fraud to accept even a dime. Which means you probably already committed fraud by telling them you were unemployed when you were never unemployed.
**** off with this shit on here idiot. Nobody is responsible for your stupidity except yourself. Figure it out you ****ing clown asshole.

Um, I stopped working so I assumed I was not going to get paid, so I filed. Then found out I was going to get paid. It was an honest mistake. I already sent them an email.

Never been in this situation thankfully, since i've never been unemployed. But this sounds like a good way to lose all unemployment benefits and incur a hefty fine. IRS doesn't play even when you are told you have to back pay what you received. They almost always tack on a large daily accruing penalty because they're not in the business of giving interest-free loans, whereas we citizens are setup to. Good luck

I work for a school district and the governor signed an executive order to give school district fundings during the shut down right after I applied.

The worst you can do is spend it. If you claim it next year they'll just add it to your return. Right now with all the handouts going on they got no time to investigate one mistaken claim.

So you panicked and applied right away with poor foresight. So did half of America. No biggy

My employer told me that I can file for unemployment if I want to, I thought to myself what the hell does he mean by that??? Is he gonna fire me? He told me me thankfully I worked really hard and my job is not in jeopardy, at least not for any time soon.
I went to file because I thought I was not going to get paid during this time (before I was told to go in) but then I received my paycheck direct deposit so I just didn't confirm when I got the call back from UI person. She told me to continue to the next form, I didn't tell her there that I wanted to cancel but I just didn't fill out the next form. I am more than happy getting paid and keeping my job. Hell I finally enjoy going to work (I just wanna get the hell out of my home once in a while :lol ) I don't want anything to do with collecting unemployment. Even when I was unemployed, I didn't want to collect because I had money saved up. And I pay taxes so I know I'm eligible but just never felt right collecting money not earning it.
