Name your favorite NBA team, and then the most underrated player of ALL TIME from that team.

And if you feel like being helpful... what was underrated about that player?

I can only speak for players I’ve witnessed but as a Bulls fan, it’s between Ron Harper and Kirk Hinrich for me

I think most the Bulls from the Jordan era get enough recognition to not be underrated (ie Pippen, Rodman, Kukoc etc) but Harper is rarely mentioned although his defensive ability was integral to those teams.

Hinrich is probably gonna get flak as a choice and I wasn’t a fan when we first drafted him but his play changed my mind and he was the Captain behind the resurgence the Bulls had post-Jordan. Solid all-around and didn’t have an issue playing off Rose when he arrived (Unlike other players on the roster). People forget about him due to the D-Rose/Noah/Jimmy Butler eras but before them Hinrich steered us to relevance.

I guess my selections are more my favorite underrated players and not so much the most underrated

The Chicago Bulls

Toni Kukoc-6th man of the year in 1995-'96. I don't know if people understand how revered he is in Europe. Was the perfect compliment to Pippen and Jordan coming off the bench during the 2nd Three-Peat.

I could name some 70s Bulls who helped them to some great years but let’s be real....none of you give a shit. So I’ll also mention Captain Kirk.

Mark Madsen

Every time when the camera was on him, you could see him legit cheering and rooting for his teammates like crazy

I think what he did on the lakers bench was underrated

Sometimes that kind of positive energy and attitude is great for the team

Horace Grant

Pretty much the ideal PF you'd want as a role player in the 90's or even today. Great defender (both inside and on the perimeter), could hit the mid-range jumper and was an excellent finisher inside. Clearly a superior player to 96-98 Rodman and more valuable to those Bulls teams, yet doesn't get 10% the recognition.

I’ll forever be amused that Horace both killed us and the Magic by leaving for them. He was the highest or second highest paid player in the league then they have to lowball Shaq....

In 97 Horace made 15 million and Shaq made 11. Karl Malone, Grant Hill, and Shawn Kemp combined made the same as Horace. You can’t blame the bulls for not paying him like that.

02-03 Nets.

i'd say kenyon martin

for blocks, a bill russell type (smart), would say keep it in play but kmart would richochet it to the 4th row for respeck purposes.

He was a very violent shotblocker and dunker. Always was the one that hyped the crowd up.

Hard to pick someone on the Spurs because there were a lot of moving pieces role player wise but I will say Stephen Jackson. Most people know him for Malice In The Palace but on the 2003 Spurs he hit some huge shots for us in the playoffs. Would not have won the title without him.

That man won game 6 by himself with his barrage from 3.

Meanwhile the also mentioned Kenyon Martin, had one of the all time worst games and froze up like a bum.

As for Kirk, different place different time, he could be the dog PJ Tucker is rn.

Oakley on the Knicks.

Underrated because of his passing ability, and we played ugly. Especially on the outlet, but people know a little about that.

Also underrated as a defender..in the regard that he's one of the best defenders ever. He was a beast in the post, taking charges, and ESPECIALLY as a help defender. Approaching GOAT (hate saying that) tier.

For the Spurs, I would choose Bruce Bowen who was such an Iron Man for them (I think record consecutive games), great/pesky defender, knew his role and didn't try to play outside of that (3 pters only in the corners) - integral part of Spurs' mid 20s rings.
