Enjoy the honey while you can. Honey bees are on the verge of getting raped.

Do any animals prey on hornets?
Believe it or not, quite a few. Some insects, birds, amphibians, reptiles and larger wasps. The praying mantis is more than happy to invite one to breakfast. The woodpecker simply pulverizes it and plucks the stinger. Reptiles don’t seem to be affected by the sting. And as for larger wasps, the tarantula hawk preys on tarantulas, so a puny hornet better learn to fly faster.

interesting. i know the invasive asian stink bug which has taken over North America are one of the most obnoxious bugs near my area. neither bird nor spiders eat them because of the obtuse stench. which is why they are everywhere because they have no natural predators.

if only trump got that wall up sooner

Hornets - Gentle Giants.

In the presence of a hornet, four things should be avoided: rapid movements, blocking the flight path, vibrating or breathing on the nests.

"If people are allergic to the venom of Asian giant hornets or are stung by multiple hornets, it can be fatal. About 50 people are killed by the giant hornets each year in Japan, according to the Times. The hornets are territorial and will be aggressive when something gets close to their nest but are not as aggressive far away from their homes."

big insects are kind of just freaky in general, the thought of a 2 inch hornet is simply frightening imo

Its just crazy how everything is in balance. An insect with venom that has not even been seen in this country and should be unstoppable. Already has reptiles/birds here with immunities to them.

hmmmmm

If honey bees go extinct how much you want to bet that everything stills get pollinated by wind and some other animal that will relace it.

Are you quoting an article on basic hornets? Because there isn't a bigger hornet than the giant hornet

In the Philippines those hornets kill birds regularly

So every species reacts the same way. Every snake reacts the same. Every bird reacts the same. Every human reacts the same.

Got it. I or garter snakes in my back yard. They're no different than a rattle snake because they're the same. :facepalm

looks like these hornets are the ISIS of the animal kingdom:

For the first time, Asian giant hornets have been spotted in the United States, specifically in Washington state, scientists say. Beekeepers have reported piles of dead bees with their heads ripped off, an alarming sight in a country with a rapidly declining bee population.

damn.

A bee was annoying me earlier until I realized it was just checking my ear out and wasn't harming me at all. Love those little guys. More bee farms needed indeed. Shame it's not so feasible for the large majority of people to have them. Hornets, wasps ect are scumbags.

I doubt this will ever be something I have to worry about but NC had a state post regarding reporting the sighting of these things. Lots of people laying on the beach right now... well not today but this time of year.

What really bothers me are Carpenter Bees... my trap grabs 1-2 of them a day.
