Had nothing to do with his basketball training despite being his actual godfather(he’s a close friend of Kyries dad).

But it looks like he was cloned from Rod but had a jumper spilled into the batter(Rod had absolutely no jumper).

I assume his dad had something to do with it. Rod said they both did similar drills far as spending hours using the glass like Gervin did to find an angle from every approach.

Hard to find two players who just move so similarly. Rod was a playmaker while Kyrie is a scorer first but it looks like the same base model with different features added.

I will add however it’s a tough call for dumbest play in spurs history between Manu fouling Dirk on a layup up 3 with seconds left in game 7....or this:

He was nasty as hell. But I thought I’d add a little balance.

I get mad all over every time I see it. Manu has to know better. You’re up 3! Game 7!

both smooth finishers it would make sense if they did the same drills to get the same feel.

great at finding angles and using the glass, that shit is so important when you're mortal sized against 6'5+ defenders with long wingspans

rod looks even more impressive around the rim than kyrie did with all those up and unders.

kyrie had a better tear drop and bank shot game.

They're like clones. Rod was nasty and prob. an all-star/fringe all-nba player at his best.

He made the all nba team without ever being an all star which may well be the only example of that.

Maybe some shitty center in the 2000s too but I can’t think of who.

Penny got voted into the starting lineup playing 19 games that year so that was a waste of a spot. Coaches/media still could have put Rod in but went with Steve Smith, Tim Hardaway and Reggie for the backcourt reserves. Rod ends up sharing the 2nd team all-nba with Tim, ahead of Reggie who was 3rd team. Steve Smith doesn't make any of the all-nba teams. Go figure.

Phil Ford is the other all nba guy who wasn’t an all star....ever. This guy:

Being second team all nba and not an all star is kinda wild. Happened for both of them.
