i was serious with the question. saw the last dance and when i saw that dan majerle was the one guarding michael the whole series, i kinda laughed.

Majerle made the second all defence team in 93. So he wasn't a good defender just on paper. And in any case Jordan faced Pippen in practise. And he routinely destroyed him.

Jordan said there was only one guy who could stop him and that guy was on his team (Pippen). Majerle's "defense" was on full display for the world to see: ceding 41 PPG to his man.

Majerle never made all-D after the world saw his "defense" in the finals...

But Jordan wasn't guarded exclusively by Majerle. Kevin Johnson also marked him as well as Dumas. In any case, Majerle was a good defender; not an exceptional one and certainly not someone to be brought up in the context of great perimeter defenders but someone that could hold his own. He, like his teammates got torched by arguably the greatest scorer ever. He wasn't the first and he wasn't the last.

For his career Jordan averaged close to 30 points against Payton and over 30 against Moncrief and Dumars. All of whom were elite defenders.

Look at the 93' series versus the Knicks and Suns. 32 PPG against the Knicks on 40% (26 FGA per game) and 41 PPG on 51% against the Suns (33 FGA per game).

It is to be expected that he would score a lot because he was great and he took a record number of FGA per game. The question is on what efficiency? What are the prime versus prime numbers? Moncrief got old, Dumars declined before MJ did. Payton was a puppy and not an all-star until 94' (his fourth season). So Payton overlapped with MJ for only three seasons as a star player.
