If you were a great player in the 00's East, you probably dragged a weak cast to the Finals... aka 01' Iverson, 03' Kidd, 07' Lebron, 09' Dwight.

So everyone would beat the 53-win Pistons in 2007 and decrepit Webber - the 89' Cavs with their Big 4 and #1 SRS would destroy the 07' Pistons.. the 89' Cavs had more talent and a better team than any team lebron beat in the East, and MJ beat them with a lottery cast low seed

Otoh, you needed a juggernaut with numerous HOF's to win the 80's East.. weak teams like AI's or Dwight's didn't cut it...

With weak teams rountinely winning the 00's East, it's a fact that Lebron formed a strong team in a conference that weak teams were routinely winning, aka cheated in plain view.. only after cheating did his conference finals win streak start

lebron only needed 25 ppg on 45% to win the 07' East (his Eastern Playoffs averages)... Dwight and AI did better in carrying their team's..

but tbh, nobody had world-beating stats - the conference was simply very weak and weak teams rountinely won it... Which is why lebron's super-teams and subsequent conference finals streak is criminal cheating
