The length of Kareem's dominance is unparalleled (first top 5 finish in 1970; last in 1986 17 seasons later). He has as many actual MVP's as Hakeem has top 5 MVP finishes.

I am surprised that Kobe ranks so high. While he recorded only two top 2 finishes, he regularly placed in the top 5 during his prime.

Top 5 MVP Finishes

Kareem 15
Russell 11
Kobe 11
Wilt/Jordan 10
Magic/Bird/Duncan 9
Shaq 8
Hakeem 6

What about Bran? I imagine he'd be #2 behind Kareem.

And shitting the bed miserably in the 07 Finals en route to getting swept and getting his soul took, 30 something percent FG%, lol

On second thought, that is King stuff :yaohappy:

He was though, you can make an argument for LeBron being #2 in 2006 behind Kobe. Who exactly would you have ahead of LeBron that year? Duncan had one of his worst years in 2006, Shaq was way past his prime at that point, Nash? Hell no. Only player you can make an argument for is Dirk, but LeBron was no worse than the 3rd best player in the world in 2006.

Damn, forgot LeBron (probably because I was working of the Simmon's list and in 09' LeBron wasn't top 10ish)! 13 going on 14.

He was 2nd in MVP his 3rd and soon to be in his 17th year (possibly 1st but doubt he beats Giannis with the season suspension cutting off LeBron's momentum). Amazing.

DWade was clearly better than LBJ in 2006...even led his team to the chip :confusedshrug:

MVP is a regular season award. Wade was amazing in the finals but people forget the ECF:

Wade 27/5/6
Shaq 22/11/0

Wade carried them in the finals but he needed Shaq to get there in the first place.

I wouldn't say clearly, you can make an argument, sure. I just don't feel Wade was ever a better basketball player than LeBron.

Yeah if they were tied in MVPs, we'd go to that metric but 5 > 4 :confusedshrug:

I doubt it. He had a shot because there was a narrative building in his favor but the suspension ended it. Giannis is the best player in the league and on the best (RS) team. Hard for him to lose.
