I took the MTA subway on sunday and there was a mass legion of homeless people living on the subway, people are starting to go broke and cant afford to pay rent anymore. They want to force us all to work for Bezos or live on the streets. The homeless problem has gotten so bad they have decided to shut down the train everyday from 1-5 a.m so they can get the homeless some “help” aka a job at the amazon warehouse

That's what kills me. Most of my neighbors work for one of the big banks. This whole lock down has been nothing but a paid vacation for them. In the meantime I've had no income and I don't qualify for any stimulus. I have enough savings for a few months but with a mortgage and health insurance premiums for the family that's gonna go fast. I'm back at work this week but only seeing emergency cases, which barely keeps the practice afloat. Plus the cost for all the PPE for me and my staff is through the roof.

My neighbors on the other hand are planning "social distance" cocktail parties. If another one of them tells me I should feel fortunate for the time to spend with my family I'm going to punch them in the throat. /rant

You should qualify for a small business 'loan' that is forgiven and not actually a loan. My wife runs a practice and was able to qualify. Make social distancing and wearing mask a highly recommended suggestion (not a government mandate). Store owners can make it requirement for people to enter their stores if they so desire but keep the damn government out of it. Dr. Caitlin Rivers, senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security said to her knowledge, no state has met all the criteria laid out by the White House Task Force for reopening.

Speaking at the House Appropriations Subcommittee hearing on the United States' coronavirus response today, Rivers described the four criteria:

The number of new cases must decline for at least two weeks (She said "some states have met that criteria" but not the other benchmarks).
The state must have enough public health capacity to conduct contact tracing on all new cases.
There must be enough diagnostic testing to test everybody with symptoms.
There must be enough health care system capacity to treat everyone.
“To my knowledge, there are no states that meet all four of those criteria,” Rivers said.

President and CEO of Resolve to Save Lives, Dr. Tom Frieden said “open versus closed is not a strict on-off switch.”

That is correct - A one and a half provider clinic alone would be near six figures alone with the addition of employer payroll tax using the 2.5 multiplier. The cares act was automatic for medicare enrolled providers, I really do not know if dentists are commonly enrolled. I know for the PT and Providers the cares act helped quite a bit. PTs and physicians according to CMS were able to transition to telehealth and maintain same reimbursement.

Seeing as physical exams were now impossible and the same E&M code was being billed - this telehealth conversion has been pretty lucrative. The hospital we refer patients to are milking the situation. They're doing a CT and MRI on every patient suspected to have COVID. Sad...

They aren't, medicare has no dental benefit. Also teledentistry really isn't a thing, about as good as a phone call for advising patients but not therapeutic at all. Most dentists are very small businesses with high overhead and thin margins. It's been a struggle for a lot of them. Glad you got the loans. A lot of small businesses got screwed.

It is the job description. Literally by law. They DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE.

Being the CEO is more important to these guys than an extra billion. It's their career, their status, their sense of pride. So they cannot slack or go soft, because the board will simply fire them.

Of course they could retire and sit on their money, but they want to be the head honcho. And even if they did step aside, someone else will simply take over and do the same thing. Publicly held companies are REQUIRED to drive profits for shareholders. I guess Gates isnt technically the CEO for msft anymore but he's still in charge of a lot of shit, and when that's the case, you must drive profits. For the board members, for the employees whose 401k is tied to it, for the teachers unions whose pensions are invested in the stock etc..

Why shouldn't they get checks? They have just as much likelihood of getting laid off due to lack of demand for projects/business. And cutting employees is a popular way to cut costs. Plenty of white collar workers getting laid off in the oil and gas industry due to lack of demand. They should definitely be getting checks.

The white collar workers have a possibility of getting let go in the future and may need that money. Give them the check.

Why shouldn't they get checks? They have just as much likelihood of getting laid off due to lack of demand for projects/business. And cutting employees is a popular way to cut costs. Plenty of white collar workers getting laid off in the oil and gas industry due to lack of demand. They should definitely be getting checks.

That's what kills me. Most of my neighbors work for one of the big banks. This whole lock down has been nothing but a paid vacation for them. In the meantime I've had no income and I don't qualify for any stimulus. I have enough savings for a few months but with a mortgage and health insurance premiums for the family that's gonna go fast. I'm back at work this week but only seeing emergency cases, which barely keeps the practice afloat. Plus the cost for all the PPE for me and my staff is through the roof.

My neighbors on the other hand are planning "social distance" cocktail parties. If another one of them tells me I should feel fortunate for the time to spend with my family I'm going to punch them in the throat. /rant
