Karl Anthony-Towns needs to play power forward. They tried this, but with Gorgui, who is a bench guy at best.
It's not going to work, having KAT -- a revolving door on defense -- protecting the rim.
He needs a quality role-playing center that rebounds and defends hard. Sets screens and catches lobs. Think Deandre Jordan 5-6 years ago, or Tyson Chandler in Dallas/NYC -- that's what Minnesota needs.
He MUST embrace his Dirk-ness.
Is there someway they could get Andre Drummond? He's still relatively young, and not sure why Cleveland got him.
They might be able to steal him in a mid-season Cleveland fire sale.
Drummond isn't the most elite defender, but he's big, athletic, physical and rebounds hard. Plays his role.

He is absolutely Dirk-esque in the way he just shuffles his feet around. Both guys had the ability to make athletic and graceful plays, but seem to save if for offense.
Drummond might be getable, because the Pistons are probably going to be broken up soon. Nerlens Noel might be another guy to go get.
I think the TWolves are screwed tbh. You could put together a really good offense behind KAT and DLo, but they don't seem very serious about defense or hustle.

OP reminds me of something I read about Evan Mobley earlier...
Evan Mobley is a center cosplaying as a power forward. The take cycle is the same every year. The mere fact that Mobley shares a roster with Jarrett Allen means he'll have to keep hearing about the importance of developing a jump shot, but the playoffs just proved why he doesn't really need one. Let him play center with appropriate spacing and every other element of his offense flourishes. Mobley is a smooth pick-and-roll operator who can clean things up near the rim and even create shots facing the basket. He comes from the Bam Adebayo school of defensive centers that don't really need to defend other centers, and having a seven-footer that can step out onto the perimeter with elite opposing wings is an enormous weapon. The moment Mobley is freed him the two-big constraint Cleveland has foisted upon him is the moment he jumps 20 spots on this list. He can't be optimized next to a center so long as he can't shoot 3s. But take the other center away and the world will see just how good he is at everything else. -- Sam Quinn

Unfortunately, Jarrett Allen is probably better than him. That's Cleveland's issue: they've got two quality centers. Maybe they need to trade one of them in the future for a forward like Kuminga, Lauri, or someone. But I'd run it back first because they've had decent success.
Perhaps they'll do well this upcoming season with injury luck and better coaching.
