If you make your list of greatest players to have ever played the game would Klay rank in the top 50? If not where would you place him? Do you agree that Klay is an automatic Hall of Famer?

I would say he is in the top 100. He has been fortunate to play in Golden State. In other circumstances he wouldn’t make the top 100.

Definitely a hall of famer, but there's alot of 'complimentary' stars with rings that are in the hall. To me he's in the category as there's no evidence of how good he, or his team, would be in a lead role. He's a perfect backcourt mate for Steph and the offense the Warriors run.

arguably the 1st-2nd best shooter of all time. like Reggie, Klay is type 30 by default. he has won multiple playoff series without stephen curry. while stephen curry has yet to win a playoff series without klay

How can Klay be top 50 all time if he's not even top 10 best player in any single season?

do you know who is in the top 100?
he'd definitely still make top 100, and eventually garner mass interest of a contending team and do his postseason bizness there

Nah. If youu're top 30 all-time there has to be at least some period of time where you were a top 5 player in your era or even for a few seasons. Or you're someone like Stockton who was never a top 5 player, but holds records in steals and assists so you can't *not* include him in a top 30 list. Klay to me is more in that Joe Dumars category, an unsung star and vital piece of a championship dynasty but wouldn't be a great lead player on a contender.

Nope.
All-star level of play, and one of the greatest shooters ever. Don't think Klay's had a better career than those guys though. Or impact.
You could argue over 60s and 70s players being 'weak', but everything is relative. Far as careers go anyway.

No but he's the Warrior's most important player. Dray fell apart without him this year. He was bad with Curry as well earlier in the year. These 2 won actual playoff games and a round or 2 without Steph (I don't remember lol). It's just my opinion though, so calm down guys. With Klay still there, Dray still has another great defender on the perimeter that he doesn't have to make up for. Do I think Deangelo Russell could replace Curry? Lol no not at all, Russell is one of the worst defensive players I've ever seen in the NBA. But I think with Klay there, he would mask up for Curry's absence more than vice versa.

Hes definitely a hof. Ranking him is more difficult though. He's just as important as curry is on that warriors team but he'll never get the credit for it because of how flashy and amazing offensively steph is. I dont think klay as the clear best player on a team could lead them to a chip or even many playoffs so ill say no he isnt a top 50.

No, but if you were going to look at the definition of a shooting guard, then Klay Thompson's picture would be on it.
Non ball-dominant, excellent off the ball movement, second greatest 3 point shooter ever, and a very good man to man defender. He will go down as the greatest 3 & D player of all time.

He could have been in the top 75 but he's likely in the top 100...50 is crazy talk

Regular Season
Hornacek (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hornaje01.html)'.... 17.7 PER.. 2.9 bpm.. 0.153 ws/48.. 42.1 vorp on 33,964 min.. 15/3/5 on 58.2 ts
Klay (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/thompkl01.html)............ 16.4 PER.. 0.7 bpm.. 0.110 ws/48.. 14.4 vorp on 20,380 min.. 19/3/2 on 57.5 ts
Playoffs
Hornacek (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hornaje01.html)'.... 16.5 PER.. 3.1 bpm.. 0.145 ws/48.. 14.1 vorp on 4766 min.. 15/4/4 on 57.5 ts
Klay (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/thompkl01.html)............ 14.4 PER.. 0.7 bpm.. 0.091 ws/48.... 3.1 vorp on 4570 min.. 19/3/2 on 56.0 ts
TLDR: Hornacek > Klay... Malone demolishes Draymond... and Stockton is comparable to Curry... which means the 98' Jazz > Curry Warriors.. they certainly beat and faced better comp (they beat shaq, duncan, hakeem and then lost to mj).. btw, stockton has hit a historic shot - the series walk-off over Barkley in the 97' WCF

If klay is in your top 50 then iverson, by default, is a top 3 player of all time. Not opinions just facts

so he isn't top 100 then.. he's literally MUCH worse than hornacek
Mo Williams in 2009 or 2010 had seasons that would rank top 3 in Klay's career based on all available stats... ditto jamison in 2010..
(yet Lebron couldn't win the East with homecourt advantage, while Curry had a dynasty with Klay - so it's a testament to Curry)

Hell no, he's not even top 75.
The 5th most valuable player of warriors success.
Durant and curry are superstars
Iggy has the finals mvp
Draymond is the modern day bill russell
