He's going to be the new record holder if the nba season continues. He's currently tied at 15 with Malone, Duncan, and Kobe.

Kareem has 15 too.

One caveat is they added a third team in 1988. Duncan, Kobe made two third teams, LeBron and Malone one. KAJ got his 15 on the first or second team.

That's arguably the biggest flaw of using accolades when comparing players several eras apart, a lot of the time certain accolades weren't even around. As you said the All-NBA Third team didn't exist until '88. They didn't have All-Defensive Teams or FMVP's until the late 60's, DPOY wasn't awarded until '83.

I know he already rides the momentum of his 11 rings, but Russell got kinda shafted the most out of anyone I can think of. He could've had something like 7 FMVP's and would have won DPOY almost every year of his career. Obviously guys like Wilt & Kareem got affected by that too
