The layup at the 3:35 mark is insane.

He was like Kobe skill wise yet more athletic (quicker, faster, better leaper, stronger, more agil, more hang time, bigger hands etc)

The more I've re-watched his '89 season recently (full games), the more I'm leaning towards this and 1991 being his 2 best versions. Doesn't even have anything to do with that 32/8/8/54% average. This is just pure eye test. 1989 is arguably his most athletic season and the rawness of prior seasons is mostly gone now. His game looks fully formed. He can swish a 20 footer just as easily as he can knife inside for a basket. Don't think he improved much from a skill-standpoint after this season. And I don't know if improved strategic/game management skills under Phil Jackson make-up for what he lost body/motor wise. And that postseason performance is one for the ages. Bulls didn't have much business winning either of the first 2 rounds against Cleveland and New York.

1989 was definitely MJ at his fastest. Don't know if he was ever more agile either.

In that series vs Detroit, he had a number of acrobatic finishes that were jaw dropping. The backwards up and under layup on Laimbeer. The hangtime game-winner where he was fading toward the baseline... Damn. To me, Mike was more reliable with added muscle though. And more conditioned to take a beating. So '91-93 are the years I would roll with.

89 and 90 (when Jordan took more threes) are overlooked though because he lost.
