It has become tougher to defend in today's NBA, however, with the new emphasis on freedom of movement by game officials. It has become so problematic that the Pacers have reached out to Kiki Vandeweghe, executive vice president of basketball operations, to voice their concerns.

Such a tougher era that teams are reaching out to the VP of Basketball Operations to change the rules....

"It’s going to be a challenge for the league to call it the same. We’re calling so many fouls, a lot of it off the ball, that even during the course of the game it changes," said McMillan, who lamented his team's inability to stay in front of Derrick Rose and Jeff Teague in Monday's 101-91 loss to the Timberwolves.

Can't stay in front of Derrick Rose (old and hurt) and Jeff Teague :oldlol:

"Now these teams with these guards just going and attacking, Rose and Teague, these little guards playing on catch, that's like the new athletic style of player that I think the league is going to take advantage of these rules. Speed, being able to recover and close out without using your hands? You can't touch a guy. You better be able to get down into a stance and guard it. That's hard to do."

"tough, physical, athletic, era"

If more teams spoke out then they would be able to reverse the rules back to the good ol' days.

Get rid of the corner three, get rid of defensive 3 seconds, bring back handchecking.

Enjoy the new golden age

So Scottie in the 90s doing 20/7/8 is gonna do 24/10/10 in 2010s? Nice.

I dont thing it's unreasonable to think that Pippen would score 24-25 ppg along with 10rbds and 8-9 assists. Along with great defense

Why would anyone seriously argue the game is tougher today due to rule changes? They came out flatly and stated that the intent behind rule changes was to “open up the game”. This isn’t even debatable. It literally says that on the rules page itself

The Pippen thing isn't wrong (not sure about 10RPG or 9APG with that scoring), but Jordan is going to get to 40PPG today.

He wouldn't get to the line as much as Harden does, but he would take more 3's (let's not forget how many 3's today are open ones), and he'd have more open lanes. He'd have a lot higher FG% than Harden, especially if he's attacking the rim as much as he did in his first peak.

His conditioning is much better than those two. In general, he's as well-conditioned as you can get. I don't think Kobe was smart about working out. Durant was, but body isn't the same.

And neither of them played the full game the way Jordan did.
