Derek Anderson in the regular season and Antonio Daniels in the playoffs. No wondered Shaq and Kobe swept them in the playoffs.

Yeah, even by 03 they didn't have a good 2nd option scorer. That's why it was shocking that Duncan beat Kobe\Shaq in 6 with nobody. The grind of an attempted 4 peat was too much to handle, especially with the Shaq\Kobe drama. Duncan did basically get a free pass playing Mavs without Dirk in the WCF though.

Duncan is very underrated these days. It is a shame.

Are you ****ing stupid, or playing stupid? It's clearly David Robinson. Played less minutes in the RS so he was like 1 ppg off Anderson, but he was clearly the #2 whenever he was on the court. David Robinson averaged 17/12 with 1.3 stls 2.4 blocks in just 31.5 mpg in the Playoffs. Was almost identical to Duncan in all advanced stats. People be constantly ranking him top 20 all-time but he never gets mentioned as Duncan's teammate on ISH.

Duncan era David Robinson is like Celtics KG. One year of almost being the real version then several where you just got reminders now and then of how good he used to be. He was always older than people felt. He was like 25 as a rookie because of the 4 years of college plus the navy. He was supposed to come in with Pippen, Kenny Smith, Horace Grant and so on. Guys mostly retired or washed up in 2001. He was almost 36. He wasnt supposed to be the real Drob anymore. He was always in insane shape so he looked like the real thing.....but he looked like a comic book superhero even in 2003. And he had great advanced stats. But that wasnt David Robinson.

Even a whittled down David Robinson is still all star plus caliber impact. He was statistically the best defender in the league.

Well it obviously depends how whittled down. He was actually an all star in 2001. We had people on here a while back looking at advanced numbers acting like the guy who did 5/5/1 in low minutes in a series Duncan did 28/17/6 was still great help because of such and such metric. That shit gets taken too far at times. If late career Drob could play 41 minutes like he did in his day he would have been exceptional. But he couldnt. And its not a knock. He was old. It happens.

Against the Mavs yes, but he was the 2nd best Spur in the Finals. 13/17 2 blocks on 6/8 shooting in his final career game to close out the series. Still was great when he needed to be.

I loooooove David Robinson. That's a guy who, as a kid, you just go wow. Then you go back and look, and you go wow. Ripped as hell. I had one of those cardboard posters of him I got at the annual school book sale in 4th grade.

Just a beast. Probably one of my 5 favorite players ever.

How is Tim Duncan underrated? Maybe in that people don't really get him, but he's a consensus top 10 and often ahead of Kobe and Hakeem, always ahead of Barkley, always 10 spots ahead of Garnett.
