View Full Version : Better rebounder mj or lebron?

As far as stats go its actually pretty close. Lebron gets more total rebounds a game by about a rebound and a bit more. Mj gets more offensive rebounds though which is much tougher to get for reasons i shouldn't have to explain.

As far as the eye test its also tough. Bron is obviously bigger and stronger so hes better able to bang and hold guys off but mj is much quicker movement and hops wise which is probably what allowed him to get as many offensive rebounds as he got. He also did it in ara where the paint was alot more cluttered with big men which make it even tougher.

Im kind of on the fence with this one bit who yall got?

MJ obviously.

He's probably the best rebounder ever pound for pound

I dunno MJ stans, what do you think

I say we roll with the "he could have grabbed more rebounds if he tried for it, but he just didn't want to"

Or always the safe bet "3pt line was shorter making the paint more packed to grab rebounds"

so many options, so little time

the triangle doesn't allow you to pad defensive rebounds, plus off ball hand checking

only ball dominating bran defense allows to pad loose boards and 50/50 freebies

besides if Jordan wanted to grab more rebounds he could have if he wanted, he just didn't need to

Jordan's a much better offensive rebounder, LeBron a much better defensive rebounder....it's a wash.

Best rebounders of the 90's

1) Jordan
2) Rodman
3) Barkley
4) Hakeem
5) Jordan again for being so awesome

If MJ didn't retire he would have easily led league the league in rebounding in 1994. I just know this.

LeBron averages 10 rebounds a game for his playoff career

LeBron also gets 10 rebounds a game for his Finals career

Jordan averaged 6 rebounds a game

LeBron led the entire playoffs in offensive rebounds in 2012 :lol

When did MJ do that?

According to OP’s retard logic that defensive rebounds are irrelevant, Amar’e Stoudemire was a better rebounder than Kevin Garnett.

Tbf he said absolutely nothing like that.

Was it implied. He went into some general descriptions, and LeBron is a forward who's also played PF.

Just saying.

LeBron has a career 11.2 TRB%, MJ is at 9.4.

As for as postseason play LeBron's TRB% jumps to 12.7. MJ is at 9.3

"But, LeBron played SF." Who gives a damn, LeBron's overall size and strength is an advantage.

People citing offensive rebound numbers like it means anything when LeBron rarely tries to hit the offensive glass hard. He also rarely gets putbacks partly because he doesn’t miss in close much. We saw what happened in the 2012 playoffs when LeBron played out of the post more often than usual. Led the entire playoffs in offensive boards and averaged close to 10 a game overall iirc

Lets not also ignore that the league in 1992, NBA teams grabbed an offensive rebound 33% of the time, in 2012 it was 27%. Obviously as the years went on coaches emphasized players to run back on defense instead of fighting for an offensive rebound which could result in easy transition points.

as you said jordan got more offensive rebounds which are the true measure for tough boards.

Certain guys you watch them, they have a true hustle and nose for the board. Lebron didnt have that.

Go watch some tristan thompson tape.

Being 6'9 265+, IF he was greatly skilled at rebounding, he'd easily average 10+ a game. But he wasnt.

The fact that a shooting guard... in an era of behemoth HOF centers and banger PF's, grabbed more tough boards than a guy the size of karl malone... is amazing.

HOW did that happen?

LeBron has one of the highest numbers of uncontested defensive rebs in the NBA, his offensive rebounding numbers are pitiful.

He pads.

Jordan averaged 6 RPG as a 2 guard while Lebron averages 7-8 RPG

Relative to size Jordan is the better rebounder and offensive rebonder.

Jordan is 6΄4 3/4 ft and 215-20 lbs and Lebron is 6΄8 ft and 250 + lbs

Lebron has the height, weight, strenght and leaping ability to average 10-11 RPG but all he does is get unconsted rebounds

Bran has led players in the finals multiple times already when it came to rebounds, if I ain't mistaken.

Btw, i like and still laugh at this one below.

I don't really put a whole lot of stock into defensive boards because a lot of them are nothing plays, offensive boards is where you have to work to earn your lunch.

And yet Jordan still managed to outrebound LBJ on the offensive glass. You're gonna have to learn how to deal with this son.
