View Full Version : If Stephen Curry wants to win a finals MVP. Warriors shouldn't recruit Giannis

It's very hard to win a finals MVP if someone is better than you individually.

Highly doubtful Steph ever gets one at this point. Playoffs are different animal than the regular season and Steph seems to suffer during them.

I think Steph should worry about getting an iconic playoff moment first. You know, before getting thoughts of ever winning a FMVP.

True. But the Warriors are likely going to win the nba draft lottery. And with a healthy team they might go deeper into the playoffs. By the way Coach Nurse found a way of shutting down Stephen Curry. Some nba coaches are going to use that as a blue print when they play against them.

They're gonna have to get to the Finals which will be harder now with Lebron/AD and PG/Kahwi standing in the way, unless AD leaves which would be hilarious. Sure would like to see Chicago's own come home and play for the Bulls.

Curry's 32, Father Time is looking in.

True but it happens. Iggy won it, Parker, Kawhi won as a role player in 14', Dumars, Worthy, Maxwell, Magic (80'), etc.

Steph should have won in 2015. He was clearly the best player on the Warriors. So for me, I don't care if he doesn't have that 2015 FMVP technically. He was obviously the best player, playing at a high level, on the team that won the chip (although let's not get into the fact that the Cavs didn't have Kyrie and Love).

Are people really going to think Kawhi's 2014 finals was better than Steph's 2015 finals just because Kawhi won FMVP in 2014?

Faced with the choice of

1. Saying yes to Giannis joining the Warriors

or

2. Worrying about an insignificant award

what should Curry pick?

I guess going for option 1 sounds right.

The media really should have given the FMVP to LeBron that year. It would have made it even more obvious how big a joke it is.

Steph doesn't care about sh*t like this, he will gladly accomodate Giannis if he wants to come to the Bay area.

And good for him for having that type of an attitude, it's kind of refreshing honestly.

You're a corny ass b*tch if your worry about getting a star teammate is about how it impacts your individual legacy.

It already affected his legacy. People are going to questions his lack of finals mvp the same way people questioned kobe's inability to win a finals mvp back in the day.

To stephs credit i dont think he really cares. He truly is a selfless team player who just wants to win. Gotta respect that

Nah. Curry is good. He's already tied Lebron in rings and has transcended the game in a way that Lebron hasn't. Finals MVP is an after thought ESPECIALLY if they allow him to be grabbed, fouled, and held on every possession. He's gonna have some road games that just aren't that good.

This goes for any player that's not a freak of nature and allowed to travel/bulldoze on every possession.

His facial expressions, and body language kinda disagreed when the finals mvp was awarded to Kevin Durant.

I agree. Imagine underneath is a perfect example of this. Tears of joy after a win in which he played godawful and threw away his chances of FMVP. So unselfish. :applause:

Yeah he definitely wanted that one. Nothing wrong with wanting a mvp though. Despite that in general he's all about winning and team play.

Yeah. Sometimes not playing up to your own standards hurts. It is what it is.

I dont think Curry actually cares to be honest, which is an amazing quality to have to keep their championship window open longer

It’s not that Curry can’t win it himself. He can, and probably did deserve it in 2015, but with Klays injury and his own injury history and the league “catching up” to them they may not have enough to make the Finals anymore without adding another high quality player. I still don’t understand why they didn’t target Covington if they intended to trade DLo to Minny. Cov has excelled in Houston defensively and could’ve brought that to a revamped “Deafh Lineup “ for the Warriors. Wiggins is at-best trade bait who’s value isn’t that good to begin with

Regardless, Giannis would guarantee Finals trips. If they want to continue their “lightyears head” mentality, he’d be in line with that. RIP to competition/parity though

And you with your vast basketball knowledge said that Kyrie anchored the Cavs' and Celtics' defense.

Curry is great and all but he has zero argument over KD in 2017 and 2018 and Kawhi in 2019.
