Keith is a hero. He's the first guy to write about how Disney World would make the best hosting spot. Looks like they are easily the frontrunners according to Shams today too. The season will be back soon guys! I'm stoked for this. NCAA style tournament with no fans so we can hear all the trash talk!

Is that even going to work ... Shanghai Disneyland is already reopened, so I mean what happens if say by July or August Disneyworld wants to do the same?

Not gonna happen. Disney will make a fk ton of money I'm sure from hosting the NBA season. They may even get a long term relationship out of the NBA.

Forgot which poster it was, but he compared this to 'Big Brother' lol

I laughed and made a similar reference, but now we could really see that. Or something related.

Not having fans will be like watching pickup games. Except with the best ballers on the planet IN ONE VENUE.

lol, I'm pretty sure Disney parks make way more money from actual attendees than they would from a relatively small group of NBA players.

Hosting a couple hundred NBA players is small potatoes.

The NBA is obviously going to compensate them and will likely lead to marketing relationships. You think Disney is doing this out of the kindness of their heart? They will find a way to profit handsomely, even if it's more for long term. ESPN is owned by Disney anyway. To bring back the NBA impacts them financially already

Makes the most sense. Disney World in Orlando has a ton a luxurious resorts sitting basically empty with Disney's Wide World of Sports close by. They could turn the Orange County Convention Center into one big basketball complex with multiple courts to play their games. They already do it now for the kids.

Yep. Basically if players truly want to continue it's basically gonna be like a training camp or tournament style. A lot of games, straight back to the hotel. I think it will be nice to see all the players not affected by travel for once. Sure it will be weird with no fans, but I'm excited to see the game from a different POV. What would be dope is if the NBA allowed some sort of mic'd fan event each game where the fans reactions/voices etc could mix with arena speakers etc for a simulated audience in a way. They should do something creative.

Well right now they're doing it because the alternative is a goose egg for revenue. When they are allowed to open it'll be another story. Though when the day comes that Disney is allowed to open, one would imagine arenas would be to. No? Maybe with limited seating available.

Disney parks make hundreds of millions in revenue from regular guests in a couple of days, the NBA is going to compensate them for all that?

This maybe sounded like a good idea a month ago, but now that Disney is already re-opening in Shanghai, they will want to get their other parks up and running ASAP as well.

I saw an event oversees where they filled the stands with thousands of blow-up dolls as fans :lol

Probably, the cities and local businesses need the revenue from the games as well. Concessions, area restaurants etc. they're all hurting.

If they're not allowing fans what revenue are those businesses getting?

Now the advanced planning/talks will start. Looks like it's going to be a done deal here soon. Celebrate boys. We just have to wait two months now :(.

"The NBA, in conjunction with the National Basketball Players Association, is engaged in exploratory conversations with The Walt Disney Company about restarting the 2019-20 NBA season in late July at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida as a single site for an NBA campus for games, practices and housing," Bass said. "Our priority continues to be the health and safety of all involved, and we are working with public health experts and government officials on a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure that appropriate medical protocols and protections are in place."

Keith Smith: Spoke with a source from Walt Disney World moments ago: "Our plan is very comprehensive. We're prepared to host the NBA for as long as it takes to finish this season. We believe we are the best suited site to handle something of this magnitude due to our considerable resources."

Remember when people were worried about Disney losing money? Sounds to me like they are aggressively all in.

They clearly didn't understand the financials at stake. Disney also owns ESPN and wasn't going to allow this to happen if they could host. Props to Keith Smith a month ago for brainstorming this idea and putting it out there.

This maybe sounded like a good idea a month ago, but now that Disney is already re-opening in Shanghai, they will want to get their other parks up and running ASAP as well.

Keith Smith-From the same Walt Disney World source: "We understand that some teams are still unable to practice n their home markets. We are prepared to host them if they need a temporary home before the season resumes. We're prepared for a multiple-month partnerships to make this happen."

Sounds to me like as I mentioned above.. Disney is willing to go all out to make this happen despite the park revenue potentially.
