Bird is the greater player, but overall game on both ends most consider Pierce better.

Here is what Parish said.

So Bird would lock down Lebron and Kobe like Pierce did?

He never locked them down
Celtics were a great defensive team.

Yeah but wouldn't they had gotten off better vs Bird than vs Pierce?

Bird is an underrated defender himself.

Bird is an underrated defender himself.

Thank you for highlighting that. A lot of people forget how great of a help-defender Bird was during his days as a SF. But more so, people forget that Bird started as a PF and won his All-Defensive selections there. In fact, Bird has 4 seasons where he led the league in Defensive Win Shares. I believe only 3 other players have had 5 or more (Mikan, Russell, and Duncan) in NBA history. He's severely an underrated defensive player.

Bird's skill and basketball IQ are seemingly unmatched. In addition, he basically gave you LeBron numbers (25-10-7), while giving you near Steph shooting numbers (50-40-90). Consider that combination for a moment.

Ridiculous comparison. Pierce was a star, Bird is among the very best ever.

Adjusted for pace, factoring in weaker opposition, better teammates, less officiating and false narratives in terms of pure ability, Pierce and Bird and neck and neck. Bird accomplished more no doubt, but had he entered the mans league of the 2000s, where 40 less points per game were scored he'd just be another guy like IT said.

It's not possible that people can be this stupid.

I have watched both men play, Bird was a better passer and rebounder, and a slight edge from 3, Pierce was a better defender, natural scorer, post player and paint player. That can't be disputed, yes Bird won more, but there were 8-10 teams in the league when he played, you can't compare that to PP facing 30 teams 24 of whom had a legit stud.

Is this the twilight zone? Are these guys for real or are they trolling? The one above "factors" Bird's weaker competition, which included the Sixers, the Lakers and the Pistons, i.e. some of the best teams in NBA history. Not to mention the "false narrative in terms of pure ability".

The whole premise of this thread is too stupid to deal with seriously.

Proved my point, you stopped at 3 teams. Pierce was facing Duncan, Kobe, Shaq, KG, Dirk, TMac, Vince, AI, Allen, LBJ, Wade, Nash, Kidd, Payton, Billups, Paul, Durant, Westbrook, Rose, Webber, Ming. Bird was facing Dr J, MJ, Isiah, Moses, Magic and Kareem. You can't compare them in terms of opposition.

And Hakeem, Barkley, Nique, Drexler, Ewing and.....know what? You’re obviously just being a jackass so let me save myself 38 posts of time wasting.

I'm afraid that basketball is a team sport.
