Who's the better player in the regular season?

Shaq. One of the most dominant peaks of alltime in the regular season. Nearly got unanimous MVP as the 1st option. Deserving of the 1st unanimous MVP I might say.

Is this a serious question?

Since Giannis is still playing and may not even be at his peak yet, it behooves us to compare them at the same point in their careers.

25 year old Giannis versus 25 year old Shaquille O'Neal. That was Shaq's second year with the Lakers when he averaged 28.3 ppg at 58.4% FG and pulled down 11.4 boards per.

They're both constrained by the refs as much as their own skill limitations.

Probably Giannis. Much much better defender.

Only peak Kareem, Wilt, Jordan, LeBron have cases over peak Shaq and arguably peak Shaq>all of them.

Giannis still has to reach his peak, though, so let's see how much more dominant he will be in a few years.

You can't seriously make this comparison when one of them had one of the greatest playoff runs ever, and the other hasn't even had the chance to play in them

Giannis has the numbers, Shaq has the eye test. He drew doubles and triples on the regular.

This is just blatantly false. Shaq was a great defender in 2000.

Giannis had the potential to win a chip in his mvp year but he came up short.

Not sure what made you say this. It's pretty even. Shaq was All-Defensive 2nd team in 2000. In fact, he finished 2nd in DPOY voting behind Alonzo Mourning that year. he also averaged more blocks than Giannis this season 3 to 1. Giannis grabs more defensive rebounds so he has the edge there. Shaq has him in DWS while Giannis has him in DBPM.

Overall, it's pretty close. You really can't go wrong either way.

Shaq is the last player to 3peat which was 18 years ago.

Giannis has won 1 playoff series vs Irving

There's too big of a gap on these players now. A better comparison for Giannis is David Robinson. Shaq in 2000 finals would of averaged nearly 50 PPG if he shot freethrows at just 60%

I don't think Giannis is on that level yet but I would still take him over David Robinson or Charles Barkley

You're wrong, dude.

Does this guy not sound familiar to you at all?

I take 2000 Shaq over anyone in the league today and I wouldn't even think twice about it.

Sorry Giannis.
