Dirk really did a number on them in 2011. After getting mocked, the German stallion awoke and executed, to date, what became the most humiliating NBA finals series of all time.

Kyrie locked down Steph Curry? This whole forum is pointless in essence but I’m just gonna go on record for the sake of accurate history and say he absolutely, positively was not locked down by Kyrie Irving.

The whole series changed when LeBron defended Draymond and the switching took away their deadliest play, the Curry/Draymond pick and roll.

LeBron and Thompson had massive help defense series.

LeBron was essentially Hakeem/Draymond level defender for the last half of that series and it erased Curry’s effectiveness.

Curry in the 2016 Finals w/ LeBron on the court Per 75 possessions: 22.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 5.2 TOV on 54 TS%, GS losing by 5.2 points

WITHOUT per 75 possessions: 47.5 points, 9 rebounds, 3.75 assists, ZERO TOV, 88.03 TS%, GS winning by 40.2 points.

The actually winning and losing numbers are losing by 6.8 per 100 possessions when LeBron was out and winning by 53.7 when he was on the bench.

I did it by 75 to obviously put the numbers into a more comprehensible perspective. But even then it’s insane.

That series was close. Closer than even the 93 Finals.

If LeBron doesn’t play 99% of these games they easily lose. If he doesn’t have the greatest defensive stretch in modern history they easily lose.

LeBron Bill Russell’d GS defensively and Prime Magic’d(like 1990 Magic) then on offense.

It's incredible when you think about it. Dirk's 2nd option was an old Jason Terry, and they still went on to embarrass Wade, LeBron and Bosh. Dirk's run without another all-star calibur player was probably the best ever in NBA history.

It’s very traumatic. I was a Cavaliers fan at the time but I was still a LeBron fan and just bought a Miami Heat Jersey. I really thought this was it and we were going to finally win. We lost and one of my friends burned his new Miami Jersey after he burned his Cavaliers Jersey the year before. It was not a good time. We couldn’t believe he scored less points than role players for the Mavericks. Foul play might have been involved. I’m going to watch the Jordan documentary again and try to see if something like this ever happened to him.

Tyson Chandler made All-Defensive team that year and Dirk Made All-NBA also

James All-NBA (both sides of the court) and Wade All-NBA.

Did your friend burn his Lakers jersey 8 years later?

The Heat did a number on themselves. I think everyone understands that they were still in an experimental stage in 2011 - ups and downs all season - which is why most didnt hold it against them.

By 2013 all was well that ended well.

Dirk's reputation suffered more for 2006 and 2007 versus any stain on the Heatles from 2011, imo.

Nope the 2011 Beatles had 3 All Stars teaming up just to lose to Dirk and the senior citizens.

Why aren't you posting up the teams they played? :lol

#CAUGHT

2016 Warriors = 73 wins, top 10 SRS all time, 3 olympians, 3 all stars, 3 all nba players
1989 Cavs = 57 wins, top 35 SRS all time, 2 olympians, 1 all star, 1 all nba player

tsk tsk

2016 Warriors = Defending Champions, made 5 straight Finals from 2015 to 2019
1989 Cavs = Never made it out the 1st round for 15 years (1977 to 1991)

What a joke

Lebron Stans still have nightmares to this day of a 7 foot hairy German sticking his tongue out after taking LeBron one on one to the hole.

When Lebron says he feels hunted by white men pretty sure this stems from 2011.
