then we have pseudo intellectuals like starface who likes to pretend college education is worthless to make himself feel better for not having graduated himself.
he wrote a memoir tho! that should count for something right?

like you can simply go get a job and maintain it right?
you see mr. samuels, you're issue is follow through. you invent an excuse for quiting/abandoning a job, career, or some other pursuit.
so, no, it isn't as simple as going to get a certificate bc you'd drop out mid semester bc of xyz reason.

A lot of the random things you make up about my life are heavy projections mi amigo.
Werent you at Uber for a year before getting fired, went to the oil fields and lasted like 3 months, then moved on to pretending you own a business...?
You don't know anything about what I'm doing. So the narrative youre applying to me sounds like it's borrowed from a very personal source :oldlol:
Anyway, I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. Well, not sorry per se, but it's unfortunate youre very sensitive and I'm very forthright. It can be a tough intersection.
But go ahead and say whatever else you want to about me. I'm perfectly fine with it. Especially since you're mostly throwing darts blind and hoping some of it sticks and hurts my feelings.

I don't disagree with any of your points -- I merely stress the importance of attaining higher learning.
Education is so important because it's one of the greatest indicators of income and social class.

I have self awareness.
But this wasn't projection. Between peddling your memoir, razors and bumper stickers, and then abandoning those pursuits, i think i have some ground to stand on. That's not counting the temporary amazon gig and who knows how many other countless gigs you've had and move on from.
This will be my last post on this matter tho. You're very predictable in that you claim everyone is just projecting, its almost like everyone on this forum is projecting when they communicate with you.
Or, you know, the majority could be right and you're just too immature to accept it.
Either way, do you.

Actually my projects were pretty awesome sauze, but obviously I have no control over how people respond to them. They were, however, completed and not abandoned.
So... none of what you said relates to dropping out of SJWU.

Not surprising -- Asians are an educational powerhouse. Some even argue that because of this, it's harder for them to gain entry/be accepted into colleges. I believe they require a higher SAT and GPA.
I can understand why this is, though.
There are serious economic, social, political and historical factors restricting certain ethnic groups from attaining higher learning.

College degree doesn't and shouldn't mean much these days. I work mostly with non-college educated people and they are super switched on. Just didn't have the motivation for college around that age.

On average a bachelor degree holders make $32k more a year than High School grad only.
I think society is in trouble if we get to a point where we declare education 'doesn't mean much'

interesting question -
I got onto the ground floor of data processing when they needed bodies...
I entered the field 2 years after high school... My 3rd DP job was with Wausau Ins.
They were very aggressive in their technology , so over a 16 year career with them , I had taken 85 + courses.
I consider my self with some form of college education because of this...
More companies need to do this to support their work force.
I should state when I retired 5 years ago at age 57 , I was making more than my step son with a masters degree.
(By a considerable sum)

This data is useless unless you break it down by degree. An engineering degree and critical race theory degree are different.
If you truly believe this though, you wouldn't also be calling for cancelling of student debt. If it's worth it then the debt would be worth it.
It also depends on the education. Why does someone with a degree have more value than a tradesman in society? Not necessarily on an economic level but on a cultural level.
I agree with Obama and Musk on this - finance and law are glorified way too much in America and too many are getting degrees in these fields instead of pursuing other fields.

I share you view on this data has to be broken down by degrees. At the same time what would you suggest to study young people who are not able to get engineering degree and choose finance as an easier way to earn more money.

Yeah, Ive been fortunate enough to have a good formal education with emphasis at school of having broad horizons so I’ve taken 200s 300s and above in subjects like sociology, journalism, general physics, psychology, fine ART history (my favorite), some modern art, physics, astronomy, literature, etc. I don’t remember how high I got in mathematics but it was only a couple of courses.
I went to community college then University of Maryland- College Park

Part of that is true, especially when you think about the level of access to information we have in the modern era. Everyone has a cell phone, everyone gets everyone's phone number, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, you name it. We are so much more connected and can easily keep in touch with one another that networking just makes sense at this stage.
So in a sense, the beauty of that is everyone that went to school with you has seen your work ethic for 4 years, or six years if you went for a master's so now all your peers know who they should and should not network with and offer jobs/opportunities to. So doing well in school still does matter in that sense.

So true. Graduate/professional degrees are a little more important. I have a BA and DDS both from UNC. My undergraduate education was more about socialization and learning how to be an independent thinker ( and inserting my dick into as many coeds as possible) while the DDS taught me the nuts and bolts of my profession. And you're right, college isn't and shouldn't be the only path to success in life. There is a shortage of skilled tradespeople right now (mechanics, plumbers, etc.).
