Most PLAYOFF MVPs (playoff win share leader for the year, since 1960)
#1 LBJ = 9 (18, 17, 16, 15, 13, 12, 09, 07)
#2 MJ = 7 (98, 97, 96, 92, 91, 90, 89)
#3 Russell = 5 (66, 65, 63, 62, 60)
#4 Shaq = 3 (04, 02, 00)
#5 Magic = 3 (88, 97, 85)
#6 West = 3 (70, 69, 68)
#7 Kareem = 3 80, 74, 71)
#8 Duncan = 2 (03, 99)
#9 Bird = 2 (86, 84)
#10 Moses Malone = 2 (83, 81)
#11 Frazier = 2 (73, 72)
#12 Wilt =2 (67, 64)

No one else in NBA history has more than one accept for the amazing eleven players mentioned above. These are the greatest players to ever grace the court. Their playoff impact is on a level matched by no one else. Here are the other notable players that have at least 1 Playoff MVP:
Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, Pau Gasol, Kevin Garnet, Dirk, Curry, Kobe Bryant

Does anyone think that it is possible for Kawhi or KD or Curry to get two more and make top 7 status?

Top 3 requires at least 5
Top 7 requires at least 3
Top 10 requires at least 2

G.O.A.T requires at least 9.

So many win shares but surprisingly few wins. Or maybe it isn't that surprising really.

I don't think its fair to knock Jordan for his team being too good and playing 5 less then games then Barkley in 1993. Jordan still easily beat Barkley in win shares per 48, so I would give Jordan that year as well.

Jordan = 8 times in 12 playoff years
Lebron = 9 times in 13 playoff years

Look man, do you want 0 Finals MVPs or at least the 1 Playoff MVP in 2015, think about it. The Playoff MVP is hard to get. LeBron has 9. Curry has 1. Only 8 more to go.

Playoffs MVPs? Finals MVPs? Useless. Rings are all that are required.

12 playoff years? MJ played 13, so keep that in mind. Also, ws/48 is skewed. If anything do WS/per game if you really want to be technical about 1993

Year, Player, Games, WS, WS/game =
93, Barkley, 24 games, 4.6 WS, .1916 WS/game
93 Jordan, 19 games, 4.4 WS, .2314 WS/game

That's fair, 93 should go to MJ.

He's got 1 in 5 years. Not bad for most players.

This is a joke. Lebron got uspet as the #1 seed in 09, yet is somehow "MVP" by your criteria? Total WS can be misleading here anyways, since it usually favors those who played more games and not the ones who actually won.

MJ led the Playoffs in WS/48 5x (3 of them in title runs), Lebron 4x with only one of them coming in a title run. MJ has the higher WS/48 for his career in RS & Playoffs.

MJ didn’t share any wins, he kept them for himself going undefeated in the Finals.

Who should have won in 2009? Post their WS. I can gurantee they will have less WS and more games played

Lakers, obviously. Lebron's numbers are inflated by stat-padding against the weak EC teams and lost in 6 with HCA, while Kobe beat the same team in 5 games. WS is a heavily flawed stat anyways. Kobe in 2010 led the Lakers in PER, BPM & VORP and played more minutes, yet somehow Gasol gets given more winshares.

But since you value WS so much, tell me, who's currently leading the Lakers in winshares?

Are you suggesting that the guy he has a 17 to 7 head-to-head record against, which is a 71% win percentage, is the guy he is worried about? Literally nobody was ever worried about Kobe

Heavily inflated/meaningless since Lebron hit his prime as Kobe went past his and they barely faced eachother.

Who should have won in 2009?

Lakers. Basketball is a TEAM sport. Kobe was a better TEAM player. Lebron's a taller version of Westbrook. Empty numbers.

Who was Playoff MVP, per Win Share alone apparently :oldlol: in 1993, 1994, and 1995? Barkley, Hakeem, Karl Malone had none?

It's funny because classically Kobe is considered more selfish than both, but his play style is actually far less domineering, and more team building oriented. And allowing others to get confidence, shoot, make decisions, pass, handle, and make plays. Also even more ironic in a 1v1 type matchup Kobe is the superior individual mono y mono player. Only eclipsed all time by Jordan.

You can't hold Lebron's Cavs losing against Orlando in the ECF series against him. He showed up to play, his teammates didn't. It's just that simple.

Lebron fans only like the statistics that matter to them, the non championship ones.

This is another reason why I can’t take anyone seriously when they say Durant or Kawhi are better all-around players than LeBron. Those two are great at one or two things, but subpar at everything else. LeBron is great at some things, but good enough at everything else. He covers more ground and have a bigger impact on the outcome of any game more so than those two guys.

Crazy to see most stars with only one for their entire career: Kobe, KD, Dirk, Curry, Kawhi

Then: LBJ with 9 and MJ 8

Win Shares are probably the biggest joke of an advanced metric out there, even worse than PER/GameScore. LeBron has leads on much better and more respected advanced metrics (Like PIPM, for example), but Jordan also leads in some of the better ones as well (Wins Added, for example)

False.

Game 6

Lebron 25/7/7 8/20 FG
Delonte 22/4/3/2/1 9/19 FG
Mo 17/3/5 6/12 FG
Andy V 14/7 7/12 FG

Lebron shot poorly in the last 4 games of that series, and his teammates can't "show up" when Lebron's the one dominating every possession.

So if this determines who's greater than who, does this mean you think West > Bird and Duncan? Lol.................
