..Jordan intercepts inbound pass & shots himself. Seems to be relevant given Pippen raked over coals for his behavior in same situation

Pippen was criticized for not checking into the game.

Big difference.

Players wave off coaches and teammates all the time. Jordan MORE THAN made up for this gaff the next game. By hitting a game-winner, and securing another championship.

Same scenario with Kukoc chosen for shot - Jordan going rogue was putting personal glory above team

Who lost that game?... Pippen did... 2-16... 6 points

Who almost lost Game 6 - Pippen... Who almost lost Game 3 of 91' Finals? Pippen... Who saved them both times? MJ

I'll use your logic here, Maybe if MJ's 3rd option didn't outscore him on half the shots they'd have won the game. (MJ's 3rd option had 30 in a finals game??)

Or Maybe if he'd used 3 more percent of their possesions instead of what he did, they would have won.

Or maybe if he didn't steal the pass of the guy who made the shots to put them in position to win the the last few minutes they'd have won the game......

Pippen more than made up for his gaffe after 1994. I think the point is that Pippen's episode received considerable screen time while Jordan's received none.

From a moral standpoint they did the same thing - both refused to go along with the rest of the team.

Consider:

Jordan was shooting 36% in the game and 0% from three

Kukoc was 11 for 13 in the game, .846 FG%.

Kukoc was 4 of 6 from three.

Kukoc three at 1:47 cut the lead to 78-74

Kukoc free throws at :18 cut lead to 80-78

Kukoc three at 5.0 cut lead to 82-81

Kukoc scored 8 points in the last 1:47 compared to Jordan's 2 free throws.

Jackson drew up the play for Kukoc for obvious reasons, but Jordan obstructed it for childish reasons.

What Michael Jordan did was immature and extremely low IQ basketball.

Magic did the same thing too in 87 when he hit that shot vs Boston.

I guess it would've been better for Pippen to just sabotage the play than not be a part of it.

If you're talking about the junior skyhook, or whatever Magic called it, then I don't think that's how it went. If memory serves me correctly, Magic was trying to get it to Kareem, but decided to take it when he saw the slower McHale guarding. He also stated that he was considering dropping it off to Kareem when Parrish rotated over to help, but he shot it anyways. That's different from what Jordan did here.

lol Pippen didn't make it up? The game when Jackson completely disrespected him and he was fed up was game 3 when they are down 2. Kukoc hit the game winner and they won that game. In game 4? Pippen had 25 8 6 and 2 leading the bulls to the win. Yet he didn't show up again, right?

:applause:

People are relying on the distinction between checking in and changing the play. Morally the former is worse but substantively the latter is. The effect of Pippen's shenanigans is another player threw an inbound pass; the effect of Jordan's is he, not Kukoc, took the final shot and Jordan missed it (if Kukoc made it the Bulls won their 6th championship). This could have swayed the series as the Bulls were vulnerable due to Pippen's back injury that flared up and made him a decoy for Game 6.
