View Full Version : Kendrick Perkins says LeBron would’ve destroyed MJ’s finals opponent

After watching the “The Last Dance” on Sunday, former Cleveland Cavaliers center Kendrick Perkins took a shot at one of Michael Jordan’s main defenders during the 1993 NBA Finals.

Perkins appeared to imply in a tweet that LeBron James or Kevin Durant, his former teammates with the Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder, respectively, would have had a field day against the Phoenix Suns’ Dan Majerle.

This isn't even a debate as far as I am concerned. MJ was getting checked on the perimeter by weak defenders that did not know how to score. LeBron was facing the converse, elite level defenders with elite level scoring. I can't even think of a single MJ opponent that routinely scored 25 ppg. That should be the next thread.

Make it happen fam! List all the 25 ppg scorers MJ faced versus the ones LBJ faced. I think MJ faced one in his whole career.

Drexler is literally the only player and at best he is a slightly better Demar DeRozan

I think everyone realizes that the Bulls finals opponents were weak relative to the teams LeBron has faced.

Dynasty Spurs x3
Dynasty Warriors x4

And people forget that the Bulls were usually the most loaded team of their era. Even in the early 90's.

https://s7.gifyu.com/images/Bulls-Pippen-Grant.png

https://s7.gifyu.com/images/Bulls-Grant-Pre-eminant.png

And of course the late 90's Bulls were similarly loaded with not only Rodman but also the addition of Toni Kukoc.

The Bulls always outnumbered their opponents in terms of talent.

LeBron, on the other hand, won while being on that team with less talent.

Why did he lose to Dirk then? Why did he lose to Dwight Howard then? Why did he lose in a blowout fashion to an old ass Spurs team? Why did he bring America home two bronze medals?

Yup, a very good reason to justify bran's six finals losses.

Also, when a team simply wins multiple championships and go undefeated in each of their finals appearances, then their defeated rivals = weak.

I guess the very same thing can be said then for the spurs championship runs before the last decade, right? They already had four titles between 1999-2007 and were also undefeated in the finals during that period.

Chronologically, they defeated the '99 knicks, '03 nets, '05 pistons and ultimately swept the '07 cavs because, under your narrative, those are just weak eastern conference championship teams.

Nice logic, btw.

Jordan did face any sort of perimeter talent. Miller & Drexler were pretty much it. No knock on MJ because he still dominated the era but the competition was trash. Lebron faces offensive threats all the time. Bron Bron would feast on old teams like the Knicks or Phoenix. This isn’t even an argument.

So 90s western championship teams from '91-93 & '96-98 are simply 'trash' because they never won chips at all in their respective years.

Phoenix never went anywhere
Drexler teamed with Hakeem and got 1 ring.

Not true at all.

Jordan faced all types of swingmen and HOF perimeter players. Richmond, Hill, Iverson, Gary Payton, Penny Hardaway, Bernard King, Sprewell, Chris Mullin, Steve Smith, Alan Houston. And of course Isiah, Magic, Drexler and Miller.

Why do posters like you come here and spew bullshit? If you don't know what you're talking about, keep your trap shut. Don't comment on topics you're clearly uneducated on.

Also, this is like the equivalent of saying the lakers are a pure joke in the 60s, since they've never won any chips at all in all of their six finals appearances during that decade because the celtics dynasty was just so dominant back then.

It's better than getting booted in the 1st or 2nd round, which happened to Jordan 5 times.

In 2011, bran and his team had the hca for the first time in a finals appearance.

However, they still ended up losing to their rivals.

Dirk would like to argue otherwise. Malone, barkley and clyde would all have a chance if they were going up against lebron instead of mj. Dirk woukd be just another guy who couldn't get it done in mj's era

Yes but not to the extent that Jordan did because he doesn't have a dependable jump shot. Nor would he able to waltz to the rim as he does now because back then defences weren't hampered by artificial spacing and idiotic rules like defensive 3 seconds. I'm guessing he wins 3 maybe 4 titles with those Bulls and that's contigent to him learning to play within a system as complex as the triangle.
